Two stories tall and located directly in the center of campus. Easy to find, even to a new first year like her. Well, she had a map just incase anyway. It wasn't like she was going to get lost no matter how hard-to-find a building might have been. Pushing open the door and stepping inside, she was met with the many shelves that covered every centimeter of the walls. That's a lot of books, no matter how you look at it. The place wasn't very crowded and it was quite. Both were good things in her book and she doubted that she'd be disturbed here. Even if she was disturbed, she couldn't imagine it would be someone too loud. Not in a library. Well, she sort of hoped not to be bothered at all but sometimes things don't go quite as planned. She had been bothered by people in places similar to this so she wasn't so naive as to think it couldn't happen again. She just sort of hoped that it wouldn't. Not that she wouldn't like some company. In truth, she wouldn't mind having some company. She just wasn't the type to go out of her way to make that happen and it'd be completely out-of-character for her if she went to a club or acted any differently than she was now. That's just how she was. She was quiet. And clubs were loud and crowded and she saw no point in visiting such places. Her twin sister might deny that she was quiet and unshakeable but that was because the brunet had seen the blondes softer side. No one else had. So far. She sort of wondered if she'd feel comfortable showing her true inner self to anyone but Fai. For some reason, she sort of doubted it. She didn't always get along with other girls since she was quiet and didn't like 'girly' things. And guys tended to be too immature for her to even think about bothering with. Sure, they weren't all like that. Some were pretty mature. It was just, no one had caught her eye so far. Not that she'd do anything if one did. She was the quiet sort, after all. She grabbed a few of the newest manga from the shelves and found a nice place to sit, away from any tables that were already occupied. Now she just needed to decide what order to read the latest volumes in. Bleach, Naruto, D.Gray-man, Soul Eater, Loveless, Vampire Knight, Pandora Hearts. There were quite a few of other manga that she hadn't read or that she needed to catch back up on but those were to ones she had pulled from the manga shelf. 'D.Gray-man first.' It was, currently, her favorite. So that's where she'd start and she'd work her way through the rest. It wouldn't take long before she was finished with the seven she had picked. Then she'd just move on to others or go back to her dorm. She wasn't quite sure yet. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 540 .Tag: Open .Place: Library .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: Oh, Lavi! Please be in the next chapter!

Takehiro sighed, as he always did before entering public places, as he entered the library. The place had free wi-fi, and it would take Ryuzaki about another day to set up the connection the way he wanted it. He was very particular about how his connection was supposed to be, what speed(really fast) it would be, what type of connection(Wi-Fi) it would be, and even what portion of the room it would be in(his room and the living room). Unfortunately in the library, he had no control over that.
He examined the room and took out his cellphone to measure the Wi-Fi connection. He walked around for thirty seconds and found that the connection was strongest near the manga section. Unfortunately, there was someone there. Hope she doesn't bother me. He walked over to the manga section and sat down. He pulled up one of the projects he was working on. It was a CD-run computer game. So far, the demo builds of the game that he has put out last year had been well-received by the websites he put it out on, but Ryuzaki knew that the reception was only about half as optimistic as it seemed. Well, it was a demo build he showed them; he couldn't expect people to want to buy the game right then and there. Spo far, he was having fun with his solo project, putting in characters from other media. He was going to use parody laws when doing this, mostly using Naruto as the parody. He did not want to get sued by Shonen Jump; who seemed to be the Disney of manga. He chuckled at the irony that he was sitting in the manga section right then. Should've figured. This game had started as a bet, obviously between Ryuzaki and his brother, two years ago. Takehiro bet that Ryuzaki could not make a fighting game as good as the Naruto fighting games; which in Ryuzaki's opinion were horrible. Ryuzaki replied that he would not only make a better fighting game than Naruto; he would do it on every console available. He meant that he was going to put this on the Playstation 3, XBOX 360, PC, Mac, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii, PSP, iPhone, and Android phones. He was going to put it on all of them. True, it was ambitious, but Ryuzaki was ambitious. He designed the graphics engine off of the Unreal Engine, whose specs he had seen several times online. He knew that the easiest game to start with building was PC and Mac. The two ran games similarly; Ryuzaki just had to make some Operating System changes when he changed it to Mac format. He was close to completing the PC format and was excited about it. All he needed to do now was write the story for it. That, Ryuzaki knew, was going to be the hardest part for him. He may actually have to hire someone to write for him, for he was very bad at writing. He could write correctly, but he was not as imaginative with writing as he was with painting and sculpting. He knew that fact, but he kept trying to meet his own insanely high standards.

YOU KEEP REPEATING ME LINES THAT YOU THINK I WANNA HEAR but i don't wanna hear anymore [atrb=valign, top, true][atrb=cellpadding, 5, true][atrb=valign, top][atrb=cellspacing, 0, true][atrb=width, 460, true][atrb=style, background: #000000; border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 20px;][atrb=border, 0, true] | [atrb=style, text-align: justify; background: #000000; color: #555555; padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px;] She was finished with D.Gray-man, Bleach, Soul Eater, Loveless, and Pandora Hearts in no time flat. She could read pretty fast when she wanted too, like right now. She really couldn't help but read through it at a quick pace, that's what happened when she enjoyed what she was reading. And the ability to read fast came in handy when she watched Anime. Subbed of course. Vampire Knight was the next one on the list. And as she started reading it someone joined her at the table. Looking up from the volume in her hand, the first thing she saw was silver hair. At first, she was going to ignore the boys presence altogether. But that would have been a bit rude and as quiet as she tended to be she wasn't the rude type. Blunt and to the point at times, but not rude. Once the song that had been playing was over, she pulled her headphones down around her neck and lowered her reading material a little bit. If she thought about it, it hadn't been very nice of him to just sit down without asking if the spot was reserved or something. Didn't university students have any manners? Wasn't it proper to ask someone if you could sit with them? That's how she would have done it. Not that she would have sat down at a table someone else was sitting at anyway. And it was probably more of a guideline rather than a rule (to ask before sitting) anyway. A barely audible sigh left her lips, "Uh, hi." Well, that was that. Easy enough, though her sister might have disagreed with the way she had gone about it. It wasn't her fault she didn't socialize much. It just wasn't like her. What else was she supposed to say? Was she supposed to ask how he was or what he was working on? Yeah, probably so. There were probably a lot of alternatives that would have been better than 'uh, hi'. Speaking of alternatives, she should have just gone with her initial idea of going about her business and not bothering the guy. It would have been much simpler that way. And now she also felt like going back to reading would be rude. At least until she actually received some kind of a response. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 400 .Tag: Ryuzaki. .Place: Library .Notes: ... .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin

Crap, he knew it. Of course, the one place where Ryuzaki thought he would get some quiet, and he gets spoken to. What a day it had been. First his little brother pretending to be a serial killer, then the joys of an abstract artist for a teacher, now this. He knew he could not ignore the young lady. While he may be a people-hating, anti-social anime-character-looking recluse, he was not a rude people-hating, anti-social, anime character-lookalike recluse. He was very much hoping to have gotten some peace and quiet while doing this, but Takehiro had prepared him for stuff like this. He was a great multitasker as it was anyway. "Uh, hi... I am speaking to another person and have not introduced myself. I have no social skills do I? Without removing his eyes from the computer screen, he extened a hand to the lady. "Ryuzaki Ryuga, it is very nice to meet you. Ryuzaki could tell that that statement did not sound very sincere, but it was the best he had at the moment. "Please, uh, excuse my detachedness. I am almost finished with a very ambitious project and need to keep my eyes on the screen."

Apparently that wasn't what 'fate' had in mind for her at that moment. Why? Because the guy went on to introduce himself to her. Well, that wasn't much of a bother. It was common etiquette to introduce yourself to the people you talk to and/or are around. Truthfully, she probably should have introduced herself first but that wasn't a big thing. If she had ventured to ask his name before he freely gave it to her, she would have given her name first. After all, if someone were to ask her name and then not supply their own she would tell them to introduce themselves first. That's just how she tended to behave when it came to introductions. She also wasn't one to go and introduce herself to other people, that was probably obvious from her lack of introduction when she first spoke. Ryuzaki didn't really seem like the social type either, though. Nonetheless, she did remover her hand from her headphones so that she could shake the hand that was offered to her. The action probably came off as a bit hesitant, though she was simply taking her time with it. She wasn't actually hesitant or anything. Why would she be? She had shaken hands with people much, much creepier than this before. Not that Ryuzaki was creepy or anything. Just saying. Now that the shaking of hands was complete, she pulled her hand away and rested it, once again, on the side of the headphones around her neck. "Adelaide Rae. It's a pleasure." Even though 'the boy across the table' hadn't looked away from his computer screen, she smiled. It was one of those automatic sort of habits she had when actually introducing herself. It tended to make her seem like she actually cared when, for the most part, she actually didn't. Of course, that's not to say that she never cares. Because she does care sometimes. Just not usually. "Don't worry about it." She turned her attention back to her Manga, though she didn't pull her headphones back up to cover her ears. Not yet at least. She wasn't rude, remember. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 400 .Tag: Ryuzaki. .Place: Library .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: ...

He was almost done. After two years, he was almost done. Ryuzaki was very happy for this. He was just about to finish when the lady introduced herself. Crap, what did Takehiro say? Talk to them if they talk to you? TThis made him frown a bit. Great, but I have to listen to my social adivser. He saved the changes he had made, and closed the laptop, revealing his face. He studied the girl in front of him for a second. She seemed to not want to talk to others either. That was good, but she was smiling. Oh, she's smiling...Great. He ran his hands through his hair and said, "Well, hello, Ms. Adelaide... Uh, yeah, that's all I got. Sorry, I don't talk much... He was very nervous when talking to others; he was an introvert to the fullest extent of the human mind. He was actually a bit suprised at his own voice. How odd, but Takehiro wanted him to talk more. He still never understood why, but Takehiro was his self-appointed social adviser. "So, uh, what are you listening to?" Takehiro would be proud that he actually said something to a girl.

YOU KEEP REPEATING ME LINES THAT YOU THINK I WANNA HEAR but i don't wanna hear anymore [atrb=valign, top, true][atrb=cellpadding, 5, true][atrb=valign, top][atrb=cellspacing, 0, true][atrb=width, 460, true][atrb=style, background: #000000; border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 20px;][atrb=border, 0, true] | [atrb=style, text-align: justify; background: #000000; color: #555555; padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px;] As it turned out, it was a good thing she hadn't pulled her headphones back up to cover her ears. Why? Because, despite seeming to not really want to talk, the guy sitting across from her did speak again. Okay. She honestly didn't mind talking to the guy, really, but she had come here for peace and quite. Then again, she ALWAYS wanted peace and quiet. So it was probably a good thing someone was talking to her. Besides, didn't she secretly want some company anyway? Yes, she did. As much as she would deny it and say otherwise. It was probably because she didn't talk to people very much that her name sounded slightly strange to her. After all, her sister called her Nyx and her parents called her Addie. The few friends she had gained during the course of her life, not very many, had also ended up calling her Addie. She'd get used to hearing her full first name though, since the teachers would probably use it every time they needed to gain her individual attention. Adelaide tore her eyes away from her Manga again and looked back up at the boy before her. Ryuzaki. She was good with names so she already had his committed to memory. Slapping the names to faces usually took a little more focus on her part, though she didn't imagine that would be a problem in this case. After all, how many guys around here had gray hair and resembled an Anime/Manga character? Wait. There were a bunch of people about that sort of resembled characters. But not as many with gray hair so... Anyway, she wasn't THAT bad with faces for the names she learned. She was, however slightly, surprised that Ryuzaki closed his laptop and stopped working on... whatever it was he was working on. "Don't worry about it. You didn't need to stop working." Because if he stopped working just to (attempt to?) talk to her she'd feel even more obligated to (attempt to?) talk back to him. Not that she minded overly much. She had enough experience with social situations to know how to respond, what to do, and how to excuse herself if she did start to mind. "It's mostly rock music and instrumentals." With a mix of various other genres. The last song to play had been Rascal Flatts. She didn't really listen to much country music but she liked some groups. And some people too. And now she needed to hold up her end of this conversation. It was pretty easy to decide on what, exactly, to ask about too. It was the obvious question, after all. Anyone would have settled on it over something else. "So, what are you working on?" See, a generic sort of question when someone says they're working on something. Shoot, it would have been generic anyway just because he had that laptop with him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 500 .Tag: Ryuzaki .Place: Library .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: Sorry it took so long.

Ryuzaki looked puzzled. He had hoped to have ended the conversation. Oh well, she seemed to be as awkward when talking to people as he. That seemed... okay. Wait, she actually cared about his project? His eyes sparkled a bit. Noone ever took interest in his project? "It's a fighting game. Funded by me. I make it too... So yeah, the only thing I can't do with it is publish it. Which happens to suck by the way." He sighed. That was the only problem. He had a better chance of writing a compelling story than getting this thing published. He did NOT have the resources for that. He reopened his laptop and finished the last few keystrokes. "There, done. Now, i have to lobby to all the game publishers about publishing it." That was going to be a drag. A real big drag. Wait, maybe he could put it for availablility over digital markets? Yes, that was it! He was already going to do that with cellphones; why not for XBOX, PS3, PC, and Mac as well? What about the DS and 3DS? 3DS had online support, but DS did not. Well, the DS was dead anyway. His game was not going to help it.

When she heard what the project was, she was even more interested. After all, she was a gamer. She didn't spend hours on end playing games but she did play them more than most teenage girls probably did. So, she wasn't really the biggest fan of fighting games. She was more into the action/adventure type games. RPGs. That sort of thing. Still, she did play fighting games now and then. She had loved the old Mortal Combat games. And she did have a few fighting games in her dorm. They just weren't really her 'cup-of-tea'. All the same, her interest in the topic at had was there and was genuine. "Oh? What sort of fighting game?" Her hand dropped from her headphones now, resting on the edge of the table. She also put down her manga, flipping it over so as not to lose her place. "Is it based on anything in particular?"Adelaide watched as Ryuzaki opened the laptop back up and typed away for a moment. Before long, he announced that he was done with what he had been finishing up before. She propped her elbow up on the table and rested her chin in her palm. "Hm? Why not just upload it to a gaming site? You can give the people that want to play it a free trial or something." Then again, she didn't know anything at all about the game and, therefore, didn't know if a free trial of any kind would work for it. A lot of free trials were given for games that involved leveling up your character and things like that. But fighting type games and the like tended to have really short demos instead. And, in most cases, those demos weren't good enough to warrant purchasing the actual game. In her opinion at least. Fighting game fans probably thought the demos were great though. Just not her because she wasn't an avid fighting game fan to begin with. That was just how it was and how things worked out every now and then. Not everything went as people hoped it did. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 390 .Tag: Ryuzaki. .Place: Library .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: ...

Well, wasn't that a neat idea? Put it up for free. "Well, it's in the mold of Marvel vs. Capcom: a bunch of people from a bunch of different series fighting one another for sometimes no apparent reason. I did that with an actual story, Square Enix level graphics, and what I hope to be tight game controls. I can't test my own work out. Uh, would you like to play it?" He sighed. Well, it was better than having to pay Takehiro again. Why did he always want money for doing something so awesome?. It confounded Ryuzaki, but he did not care enough to think about it much. He had other things to do. He pretty took out his copy of Divine Comedy and began reading it, waiting for an answer. This was a library after all. He flipped to his favorite part: Purgatory. He liked the idea of nothingness as a punishment. It suited him just fine. He tapped on the table while reading it. He turned the menu of the game toward Adelaide and put his hand back on the table, still tapping somewhat happily. He enjoyed Dante's description of the place as much as any Circle of Hell.

He didn't comment on it at least. He did, however, tell her what, exactly, the game was about. 'Marvel vs. Capcom' redone with a story, good graphics, and probably characters from, well, she wasn't sure but she doubted they were Marvel and Capcom characters. Now, she knew about the original 'Marvel vs. Capcom' game. She had seen the commercials and she had seen the game in stores. She had also seen kids playing the game on the store's systems. Never had she, herself, actually played it though. As mentioned, fighting games weren't really her cup of tea. Most of the time. Depending on certain thing, such as the story, she'd give pretty much any game a try. After telling her what the game actually was, he went on to ask if she'd like to play it. She had seen people who tested and/or played games for a living. Making money just siting around and leveling up or whatever. She'd love to have a job like that but she couldn't just sit around. She liked sports to much for that. She absolutely had to go out and play tennis or run or something on a daily basis. That didn't really have anything to do with the current situation though. As it was, she was being asked to test a game that was created by a student that happened to attend the same University as she did. She watched, contemplating whether or not to play the game, as Ryuzaki pulled out a book to read. 'Divine Comedy' was a book she hadn't read as of yet. She'd have to see what it was about later. "Sure, I'll play it for a little while." It was about that time that Ryuzaki turned the laptop towards her so that she could see the menu. She knew her way around a few fighting games (like the 'Naruto' ones) but she didn't play very many games on computers. Not very often at least. She turned the screen a bit more and tilted it until she could see it better. "So... what are the controls to play it? Just the usual arrow-keys, shift, and spacebar? Or do you have a controller?" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - .Wordcount: 400.Tag: Ryuzaki..Place: Library.Notes: Forgive the rambling. Ryuzaki looked up from his book when he heard the question. Right, he had forgotten to hand her the controller. He took a controller for the PC out of his bag and plugged it into the computer. Then, handing her the controller, he resumed reading. "Sorry, the tutorial should give you a handle on the controls. if not, just ask." He turned the page silently, not wanting to disturb the subjects play time. He wanted her to give a good report for the game, and he had made sure to include certain bells and whistles, like rpg elements for certain mode, that would make some fans gush with joy over. Hopefully, he had put enough polish on it, but he was not entirely sure. Now, he was a bit nervous about it. Please be good, please be good, please oh please be good. He was getting even more anxious by the second. He began turning the pages more frantically. A bad habit was kicking in as he knew it would. He began speed reading, even faster than normal. He hoped he could stop soon. He hoped she would like it, for that would stay the habit and get him back on track.

That was good, it made playing the game much, much easier. Or, at least, it made the controls much easier to get the hang of. Knowing the right buttons to press and actually playing the game were two different things. A 'Dragon Ball Z' game had taught her that real quick like. She had known all the buttons but when it came to the game itself... well, her performance could possibly be described with two words. Epic Fail. The villains had beaten her much to easily and she had gotten fed up with it pretty quick. It's probably the only game that she got fed up with and never tried to play again. There were a lot of other games that she got stuck on once in a while but she'd always pick the game back up. And when she did that, she typically got past whatever she was stuck on. Looking back, perhaps she should have given that game another go before deleting the save data. Oh well, it was too late now. That data had been deleted a long time ago. And the game? She had given it back to the guy she had borrowed it from only two days after getting it. The tutorial for the game her schoolmate, Ryuzaki, had created filled in any gaps that may have existed where controls were concerned. After that came the actual game. Or part of it at least. She couldn't sit here and play the game for too long. She had to get back to her dorm room a bit early. There was work to be done. Still, Adelaide had a little while to play. As she played, she noticed how the young man began to flip through the pages of his book a little faster. She had to wonder if he was actually reading it all. She could read pretty fast herself, when she was enjoying it, so she wasn't going to assume one way or the other. "How long were you working on this?" Maybe a little bit of chatter would help mend the slightly awkward air that surrounded their table. She could talk and play at the same time so it wasn't a big deal for her. Though, she couldn't be completely sure about him. Ryuzaki almost cracked a smile, almost. That was one of the biggest complements he had gotten. Well, he did not get many compliments; so this may have been a minor one. Honestly, he felt like dancing. Instead, keeping with his calm and awkward demeanor, he continued flipping the pages at an enormous rate. He thought about her question for a moment. How long HAD he been working on this? Hm, he guessed about a year and a half, but he could be wrong. "A little over a year I believe.", was his nonchalant reply. It was at least a year; that much he knew. However, he did not have an exact calculation. That was something he was not used to. Normally, he had a calculation at the drop of a hat. It made him a bit uneasy. Although, perhaps the prolonged conversation was making his head less focused than usual. Yeah, that was it. He put the book down for a moment. "Um, I would suggest playing the Ladder Mode to get a feel of the game before jumping into the story." Well, that was what HE always did with a fighting game. Although, she may have gotten enough of a grasp with the tutorial.

YOU KEEP REPEATING ME LINES THAT YOU THINK I WANNA HEAR but i don't wanna hear anymore [atrb=valign, top, true][atrb=cellpadding, 5, true][atrb=valign, top][atrb=cellspacing, 0, true][atrb=width, 460, true][atrb=style, background: #000000; border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 20px;][atrb=border, 0, true] | [atrb=style, text-align: justify; background: #000000; color: #555555; padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 0px;] What would she say if she needed to estimate how long it'd take to create a game like this with a story and good graphics? She'd have to take into account how long the story-mode lasted as well as how much time might have gone into the tutorial and any other modes the game might have. She probably wouldn't guess anything below at least two years, just because of the coding and whatnot that was involved. Well, that ad the time it'd take to come up with the story itself and create all the graphics and put it all together. It usually took a few years for the professionals to throw out a new Final Fantasy, if not longer. Of course, that was Final Fantasy and a team of professional game-makers. Not a fighting game. A fighting game wouldn't take quite as long as a more RP based type of game. Still, for someone who wasn't a professional game-maker and was doing it alone, she'd guess around two years. Give or take. So when Ryuzaki said, quite nonchalantly, 'a little over a year' she paused in her button pressing and looked away from the screen, her surprise at his answer showing on her face, though only just a little. She payed little attention to him putting down his book, instead focusing back on the computer screen in front of her. "Damn," the curse, barely audible if at all, slipped past her lips when she saw that, during her brief moment of inactivity, she had lost the practice battle she had been participating in. She had gotten the gist of the controls though, so she didn't really need to retry the fight or anything. Instead, she backed out of the tutorial. "You must be really good with coding and stuff. To finish a game so quickly with no help. Or did someone help you?"Adelaide decided to go with Ryuzaki's idea of playing the Ladder Mode rather than starting the Story Mode. After all, she couldn't fully enjoy the Story Mode of a game when she was sitting in the library. Besides, Ladder Mode would probably give her more actual play-time, rather than just game-time. Wasn't Ladder Mode part of the Mortal Combat games, where you'd fight your way through to be number one? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - .Wordcount: 400.Tag: Ryuzaki..Place: Library.Notes: ....Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin
