Day 1…
Walking in to the smaller-sized lecture hall, Skell strolled on over to a desk that sat in the very middle, bottom, and forefront of the room. She plopped her messenger bag down on it, a deep breath to ease her slight nerves of what today was.
Her first day.
All those empty seats. She shuffled through her bag to pull out a folder for this specific class, noting the roster. There weren’t many signed up for this class, despite it being an introductory course. But, no matter. This was probably best for her. She didn’t want to overwhelm herself on the first day of classes. Not that she really had anything in mind for today’s lesson plan, since she figure more people would show as the week went on and schedules were getting finalized.
She pulled out a stack of papers from the folder: the syllabus. All it really had on it was the course description, how to get into contact with her, grading structure… well, except for the grading structure. That was more or less going to be attendance based, and maybe a presentation will be have to be given by the course’s end. That, she’d have to decide on – but it looked like a better alternative than a boring essay.
Placing the stack on the table, she turned around to the chalk board and picked out a piece of chalk, scrawling “SYLLABUS UP FRONT.” After a moment’s pause, she decided to precede it with “INTRO TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE.” Wiping her hands off each other, she returned to the table and sat patiently in a seat.
Glancing over at the clock, she scratched her neck at the time she had left: near a half hour. Oh, what she did to try and make sure she didn’t screw her first teaching gig up…
[OoC: students can come in as they like, so no worries if I respond to someone else's post before you do.]

Takehiro shuffled into class as he did with most every class he is apart of, with quiet, dignified slumping posture. He sat in a desk in the back in his knee up position. He examined the teacher sitting before him. Thought that a man would do this class. Eh, that's the stereotypical lawyer though; so I'm glad she broke the mold a bit. He shifted slightly in his chair, making sure it was as comfortable as possible. He pulled out a textbook he had gotten from the headmaster called: Criminology Basics He had so far found it to be a fun read and was absorbing as much information as possible from it. He read over the syllabus for a few seconds. "Hello, Ms. Harvey, I am Takehiro Ryuga." He took this class as a feel class to see if this would be a chosen minor degree. He was torn between Sociology, Criminal justice, and Chemsitry. Luckily, he could pick two. he was leaning toward this and Sociology, but really he could change his mind at any time. He could be a fickle guy when it came to matters such as these. Hopefully, this teacher was nice which would persuade him further toward this choice as a minor.

This morning, the young man thought he ought to go to class. After all, he was here in the University to study, and he shouldn't waste his time lounging around. Carlos combed his hair back as he made his way through the corridors to where he was going to have his Intro to Criminal Justice class. Slung across his shoulder was a sling bag carrying the required items for the class, and he shifted the strap under his lapel to look neater in his pinstriped double-breasted suit. He arrived into class without much hassle; he saw the female teacher upon entering and, with slight reluctance, approached her. Carlos’s peripheral vision was scanning the rest of the room, and he noticed the lack of student activity, spare for one man who had a textbook in hand.
Carlos gave the teacher a curt nod several steps from where he stopped walking. His etiquette was the first thing he discerned he had to display, to show his respect to the woman who would be teaching him a class he barely knew firsthand information about. He had been reading in advance things about the subject, so that he wouldn’t look foolish when he attended the class. “Good morning, Miss. I am Carlos Mitchell.” After the words left his mouth, he proceeded to the table where a stack of papers were placed. He had read at the board that the syllabus was there, and he thought it would be very helpful for him to know what he’ s going against in this class.
Upon obtaining a sheet from the pile of papers, he took a seat two rows from the front, removing his bag and resting it on the floor beside his chair. His intentions were to look over the syllabus first, before doing anything else. Carlos was overall interested in the course, and he was glad for that. He mentally prepared himself for any thing the teacher might have in store for them on the first day.
He sighed inaudibly and ran a hand through his hair.

She was only there long enough to grab a coke and a bag of chips, putting the chips in her orange and black messenger bag and. As she left her room once again, she popped the top of her coke can and took a sip before putting it in her bag's side pocket and making her way to the Golisano building. Introduction to Criminal Justice was her next class. The first class of many in she would need to take for her Criminal Justice Major. She walked at a steady pace, careful not to spill any of her soda by moving to quickly or running into anyone. It wasn't too long before she made it to the correct building and was heading down the hall to the room where the class was being held. Once she entered the room, she scanned it. She liked to know where people were when it came to classes, in case there was anyone there that she wanted to avoid or something. At the moment, aside from the teacher, there were only two people there. Two males. She had to wonder if there'd be many other girls in the Criminal Justice field of study. Or perhaps she'd be the only one there? She headed up to the desk where the teacher sat and bowed her head just a little. "Good morning professor. I'm Adelaide Rae." After her brief little introduction to the teacher, she stepped over to the little table and grabbed a syllabus before heading towards the desks and taking a seat by the window, at the front. She normally chose to sit in the back but this class was one that she had a particular interest in. After she took her seat, she carefully slid her bag from her shoulder and sat it on the floor next to her. It wouldn't do to spill her soda all over the floor or, worse for her, her bag. After all, her papers and such where in that bag. As careful as when sitting her bag down, she pulled out her textbook, a notebook, and a mechanical pencil. She set all three on her next before looking over the syllabus she had picked up. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 400 .Tag: Intro Class; Skell, Takehiro, Carlos. .Place: Golisano, Criminal Justice Wing .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: ...

I remember black skies the lightning all around me, I remember each flash as time began to blur.
The twenty-one year old walked to campus like always. He lived in the Crescentwood Subdivision, in the loft his father had purchased for him when he started college. He could have gotten a taxi or taken the bus or he could've gotten a car somehow but he actually preferred just walking. After all, walking to school meant he'd run into more of the ladies. Well, the ones that were coming out of or heading into the stores and such that where on his way.
Either way, the fresh air was nice and it's not like he lived THAT far from the university. He'd be there with a little bit of time to spare. And even if he was late, he wasn't shy so it wouldn't matter. Not to him at least, though the teacher probably wouldn't like it too much. Depending on who the teacher was and just how late he got there.
Akira greeted some of the people along the way, mostly just the ones he knew in some way or another. Before long, he was on campus and heading towards the Golisano building where he would attend his first class of the day. Introduction to Criminal Justice. It wasn't a class he had to take, it was one he had decided to participate in just to learn a thing or two about law. His major, after all, was business.
It hadn't been his choice to go into business either. It was part of being the sole heir to his father's company. He had to learn how to run a business, otherwise the company would fall apart once it was his. There was one thing he really didn't want to do and that was disappointing his father. Sure, he wasn't the perfect son, but he did try his best to make his father happy. Not that the parties and clubs he went to now and then would help with that.
When he entered the room that would be his classroom for the next... however long this class was, he glanced around before heading to the teachers desk. As he did so, a grin spread across his face. Once he was standing in front of the desk he introduced himself (with an unnecessarily flirtatiousness to his voice), "The name's Akira Saito. It's a pleasure to meet you. Might I say, you look lovely this morning."
After that, he moved over to the little table and grabbed a syllabus before finally moving to the desks and taking a seat at the back, next to the window, directly behind the silver headed girl. That's when he took the time to really look around the room. Two other men and two women (one being the teacher). He should have gotten a better look at the other three students before sitting at the back of the class.
He'd just have to look them over later sometime then.

Within a brief matter of time, Skell was no longer alone in the lecture hall.
The first student to join her was male, and polite as he approached her table to take a syllabus. She smiled at him as he greeted her, giving a small nod, "Nice to meet you, Takehiro..." She trailed off slightly as she took note of his moving back to the seats.
As soon as he took his seat, another male student had approached her and introduced himself. Yet he was quicker to turn to get a syllabus, and claim a seat of his own in the second row. With a wrinkle of her nose, Skell raised a finger to scratch her head and push a lock behind her ear. Well... suppose this was going to be an incredibly formal environment. No room for much small talk. She was their professor, and them her students...
A female joined them -- not that Skell took particular favor nor extra notice to it. The girl seemed as the generation did, in with her electronics and had the air of a classic student. Skell gave her a soft smile as well, a bow of her head, a small gesture, opening her palm to indicate a wave, and greeted with a, "Hello~"
Dark-haired, charming aura entered the room and made his way up to Skell at the table. She couldn't help but smirk with this student -- was he truly serious right now? Perhaps that's just the way he spoke, with an obvious flirtatious air. Their ages weren't too far apart, so outside of this setting she'd probably meet his tone with something playful -- but what if another faculty member waltzed in to see how she performed on her first day? Oh, that'd be awful...
So, instead, she cleared her throat in a ladylike manner, "Pleasure is all mine..." and with a glance to the clock on the wall, and a louder clearing of her throat, she pushed herself to stand, "All right. Guess we better start...
"Hello, everyone! I'm Professor Harvey, and I'm the new Criminal Justice Department addition to this legendary University. I... actually got out of school myself just recently..." she began to pace, "So apologies if I'm a little rough around the edges with everything. Hopefully this term will be a good one for both yourselves and myself, and I won't make too much a fool out of anyone...
"You should have picked up a syllabus from the front. All the incredibly imperative information is written in there, such as my name, my contact information, the outline of this course from a logistics standpoint and also from a content standpoint. This lecture will meet every Tuesday Thursday, unless otherwise noted, and will last for a duration of an hour and twenty minutes, again... unless otherwise noted.
"This course is meant to get you thinking and acknowledging the subject that is Criminology. What is it? Who does it affect? Why is it important? Where is its place within a government system, or different government systems around the world and worlds? Hopefully we'll be able to touch on these questions, and more, and any you may have as we carry on with the course...
"That said, does anyone have any questions?" She leaned against the table at the front, looking out at her students. She hoped she hadn't messed up already...

Takehiro thought about the syllabus for a moment. Then, he thought about the teachers words. He found a discussion on what Criminology is a bit useless, but it was not his class. If this was really just going to be a lecture, Takehiro may be the first customer of Ryuzaki's new video game. This seemed to be the teacher's first teaching job. Heh, a new teacher for new students. He liked it, but he really did need something to do while listening to the lecture. Luckily, he had always been good at multitasking. He twiddled his thumbs a bit but decided to raise his hand. "Excuse me, is this your first teaching job?" The question was bugging him only for the reason that he had seen a lot of new teachers so far. Well, they seemed new. He really had no idea about the extent of people's teaching careers, but he assumed a rich university like Kingdom University had top of the line teachers, but then again they could just be alumni. Actually, he had never seen an alumnus here. That in of itself was odd. He had heard that most universities hired alumni to teach more often than they did non-alumni.

A hand rose -- oh wonderful! It didn't look as though this class would be characteristic of any of the lectures she attended when she was in school: mostly just quiet and there for the grade for the most part. You knew the ones who were interested in the course because they asked questions -- whether it be in the class setting or outside of class.
With a point of a polite finger, she nodded for Takehiro to ask his question. But as soon as he did, she wasn't sure how she felt. Not that she should feel anything personally in a professional occupation... but... what was she to make of that question?
"Why, yes..." she gave a slow nod with a sure smile. She needed to maintain a professional and unphased attitude for her students. After all, it was a fair question, "This would be my first teaching job. Exciting, no? A teacher has to start somewhere. I feel pretty fortunate to have managed a spot here... with such prestige..." she paused. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to tell them a bit about her history, "I'm not that much older than some of you. I graduated and got my teaching credentials just this past year..."
She looked out to the rest of the class, unsure if she had adequately gotten to the meat of Takehiro's question. She hoped she had, and that there wasn't some underlying doubt to her capabilities. She knew she'd have to work hard this term to prove to the staff that she was worthy of teaching here... but more importantly would be to show her best to her students.
"Any other questions...?"
[OoC: I was told as a professor I could answer questions and intervene with the post order like this, but that students need to maintain their overall post order -- so, if someone asks a question, don't feel like you have to wait for me to post. You can go ahead. To keep the thread moving, though, I decided to answer this one upfront. Hope that makes sense!]

I remember black skies the lightning all around me, I remember each flash as time began to blur.
The young man was inwardly pleased by the response he received, though he'd a preferred something a little different. But this was a classroom and she was the teacher so he had to give her props for keeping up a professional air. Maybe he'd be able to have a little fun in this class. After all, she hadn't scolded him for flirting with her. Not that he had 'really' been flirting with her. Oh no, not just yet.
Actually, he wasn't quite sure if he'd flirt with her much or not. It would really depend. It wouldn't take him long to reach a decision though. Not once the class got started at least. That's when he would get a little bit of a feel for how she acted.
After introducing herself to the class she went on to tell them that she had only recently gotten out of school herself. What an interesting development that was.
When the syllabus he had picked up was mentioned, he glance the front page over. He'd be keeping up with it, that was for sure. After all, it held such valuable information and it would be a shame to lose it. The content and logistics for the course were important too, of course, but he didn't really consider that valuable. Not like the information at the top of the page anyway.
Akira wasn't too awfully thrilled with this being a lecture course but he had been the one to sign up for it. And lectures weren't so bad, when you liked the person giving them. That thought forced his mind to wonder a bit but he quickly brought it back to the current class. It was an introductory class though, so lectures were a given to begin with.
Propping himself up with his chin in his palm and his elbow on his desk, he listened as the first question was asked. He had found it pretty obvious that the teacher was new to teacher, what with having said she'd just recently gotten out of school. Maybe the guy was just confirming? Who really knew but the guy himself, right?
Anyway, Professor Harvey answered the question, saying that she wasn't much older than some of the students in the room. Another interesting bit of information that he'd need to retain. It seemed this class would turn out to be a fun one after all.
Once that question was out of the way, the woman asked if there were any other. After a short moments contemplation, the dark-headed twenty-one year old raised his free hand. And as soon as he was given permission he began to ask his question, a crooked grin on his face. "So. Are you available or are you committed to someone?"
After asking the question, the girl in front of him lifted her chin from her palm to glance his way, though the look didn't last long. Seconds after tossing the look over her shoulder, she turned back around to look at whatever was upon her desk (a notebook that she was doodling in). He could tell she was writing, or something to that effect, but that was about it.
Said girl happened to be Adelaide Phoenyx Rae. She was currently staring down at her notebook, sketching little doodles in the margins and only listening to what was going on around her. It was typical behavior for her though. She's easily bored and tends to doodle when that happens. But she was still listening.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT all of us have lost our patience |
[/div] Smiling
was something Ventus did on a regular basis, at least more so than his younger brother and he was currently sat in the class that's subject he wanted to major in! So of course he'd be happy! He also had a nice teacher to boot! So with all that figured out he flipped open a page of the syllabus and started to skip through whilst everyone else was talking and asking questions. Ven didn't have any questions yet, he'd wait till everyone else asked theirs because that was the nice thing to do. "So. Are you available or are you committed to someone?" The question that made Ventus's head slowly lift from the syllabus and turn so that his blue eyes were resting on the student that asked. "Um... Not to be rude or anything but... That's a bit of a personal question to ask our teacher... Don't you think?" The blonde spoke up now only because this other student could possibly make the air in the room very awkward and that lead to tension. Tension well that lead to chaos and a great deal of other undesireable reactions from people, over all, people wouldn't be happy. He just didn't like conflicts unless he reeeeaaallllyyyyy had to get in to a conflict with someone. He'd probably just stay quiet after that comment, he was only trying to help the teacher out and make her job a little easier. [/div]
