Aqua studiously walked into her classroom on this fine Tuesday...morning...well I suppose it technically is..., bag in hand with her white blouse and business skirt on. Today was the first day of the new semester, well the first fall semester anyway. No doubt she would be seeing a lot of new familiar faces this semester, this was one of the more 'advanced' classes. Well...not really but she'd like to think so...its for the more creative students normally...at least that is who succeeds.
The blue haired female set down her bag promptly onto the desk the school had in this, and pretty much every classroom. This room was one of the more technically equiped in the English section of the building...probably because of its proximity to the more technically advanced areas.
The female looked up to see the smart board hooked up to the small mac computer on the wheeling cart. They had these computers in pretty much every classroom in the Golisano building.
The female walked up to the computer cart, grabbing a small remote control and clicking the button, causing the smart board to turn on. The female then signed into the computer using her school email, which was more for students asking questions then anything else aside from faculty notices.
The woman gave a few quick clicks and the computer began the slow log in process. The network was strained at times so it took a while for logging in but otherwise the computers worked fast. The female stepped towards the desk, pulling out the syllabus for the students to take on there way in...or pass out if the students didn't grab any.

So, first day of creative writing, eh? Well, at least she had time to get ready for class this time, unlike the day before when she was still in move-in mode and had to scrounge for something clean and ironed. Though, it had been annoying to do so, it was just one of things that needed to be done. But, at least now she could actually pick an outfit! Today, she was just as formal as the day before – you need to make a good impression – and wore a cream skirt with brown pinstripes with a matching blazer over a powder blue shirt. Atsuko had contemplated adding a tie to the ensemble, but decided against it – ties were just too annoying and, hey, that was one of the good things about being a woman, not having to wear them.
Anyway, she made sure that she was on time to class, waking up a little early just to be sure, and was on her way. Hopefully, this would be one of those easy classes where there was not too much work. Oh, of course she was going to take it seriously, but it would be nice if it was just writing and critiquing each other and not tons of other stuff – she had heard that a bunch of people were pissed off at one of the art teachers for doing that. Well, however it ended up would be how it was. And she walked into the class, gave a polite wave to the professor, overlooked the syllabi on her desk, and took a seat in the front row of the room.

She had originally wanted to be one of those crazy students who double majored and then minored in something as well—double majoring in Music and English and minoring in Art, that is. But even she knew her limits and knew that balancing a job ,and not to mention all the work that would have come from double majoring, just wasn’t realistic or at least not for her, not right now. So she had to settle for taking an English class here and there to keep herself satisfied.
Akii stifled a yawn as she left her dorm room, being sure to lock the door behind her before exiting the building and starting towards the direction where Golisano was located. While it was, in fact, late morning-early afternoon she still felt a little drowsy from having stayed up most of the night before watching a marathon of one of her favorite television shows, White Collar. At the time she knew that she probably would regret it the next morning when she had to get up for class and realized that she was still tired but she had pushed the thought to the back of her mind where it stayed until her phone chimed at 2:30am with a drunk text from some vague ‘friend’ that she hardly even kept in touch with anymore from Traverse Town. But she was glad for it because without that text she probably would’ve stayed up watching the marathon until the sun’s first light peeked in through her blinds…and that would not have been good. She didn’t enjoy entertaining the thought of going to class without a decent night’s sleep; she would’ve been a zombie.
The silverette made it to the building and shuffled down the tiled halls until she made it to the room where her Creative Writing class was to take place. As she entered the room she noticed a pile of papers near the door and upon closer inspection realized that it was the class syllabus, sliding the top packet off of the pile and taking it with her to her seat. She muttered a quick ‘good afternoon’ to the Professor before taking a seat near the front of the room, her fingers absently playing with the edges of the packet, curling and crumpling up the corners before smoothing them out again.

The blue haired female watched as her class started to pile in. From the looks of the students most couldn't be more than twenty...though she knew few freshman took this class because most just had English Composition first semester. This was going to be a harder class for some, because of the assignment load that is.
The female looked at the clock, not one of those old ticking ones you find in high schools...the electronic kind that most alarm clocks were now. The female watched, well it was time to get started at least...it was only the first day so she expected to have some late students since the campus was so large, though she seemed less lenient with this class because she knew the majority of the people here were not freshman. Of course she was one of those teachers who didn't mind you being late as long as you were quiet and respectful about it as to not draw attention to yourself.
The female stepped back to the computer, the students easily able to see what she was doing because all her computer movements were being projected by the smart-board this room had. The female double clicked on the PowerPoint she had downloaded from her email, letting it load up. With a click she started it, simply having the first slide be the title of the class with a normal white background, apparently not one for presentation purposes.
The female turned to her class,"Okay then, lets get started." The female moved to the glowing magicalness that was the smart-board. The female grabbed one of the 'markers' off the little tray under the board and wrote her name on the slide in legible cursive...it must be a female or teacher thing. The female turned back to the class again when she finished.
The female smiled at her class, it was better to do it this way lest she get a reputation like one of the other faculty members as someone who was...well not the nicest teacher to have unless you have to. The blue haired female looked at her students,"The syllabus is pretty straight forward, I am your instructor Aqua Hikari and this is Creative Writing," she said, pointing to her name on the smart board. "This class is designed to prepare you for creative writing for things like plays, novels and poetry for the aspiring authors or just as a way of expression. I'm not going to go through the required materials, but just note they are listed for you." The female was kind of rushing through this, they the syllabus was something they could easily look over in their own time, so she was just giving a quick run through.
"Now, in this class we will have three major projects that together will be worth 40% of your grade that will be a part for each of the three units we cover listed in your syllabus. We will also have a final exam like required by the university but like in a speech class it is a presentation. Just coming to class is also part of your grade, chances are if I know your name you are getting the full points. And homework, while each assignment seems small they all add up to 10% of your grade so try not to turn anything in late. My terms on late assignments are after the first day you can get a maximum of 70% and after three days you automatically get a zero. It may sound harsh but this isn't high school, we are all adults here and just like at work if you don't get your work done on time you are penalized. There is also your journal, a special part of this class. Each day I will post a question here on the smart board for you to respond to in your journal entry in any way possible. The only requirement I have is that you have to use at least 300 words in your entry, other than that you are free to do anything you want." The female looked at her students, they all looked...well like they might have gotten what she was saying at least.
The female nodded,"There are extra credit opportunities that I will announce later. Also note the rules on Academic Dishonesty, or cheating as it is called. We here are very strict about these kind of behaviors, and repeat offenders might find themselves expelled." The woman nodded, as she had flipped through a few slides while talking, most just having the passages she was talking about that the syllabus had. "Also as a warning I will warn you at least one day ahead of time if we do not have class planned, I also advise you to check your email in the morning before class to see if I have canceled class because of weather or person troubles." The female looked at the students,"Any questions so far?"

She'd decided to reread one of her favorite manga series, Vampire Knight, and ended up finishing the whole series. In doing so, however, she lost track of time... And ended up going to sleep at two in the morning. With this in mind, she got up much later than she should have. Her first class of the semester, and she was late before she even woke up! After a quick shower, a fast change of clothes, and rushed through morning routines, she was out of her dorm building and running towards the Golisano building.
She was thankful it was her second year here, and that she already knew the campus pretty well. She got to the building fairly fast, and practically sprinted down the hallway. She hoped none of the teachers happened to notice her running through the building. Finding the classroom right away, she made sure to pause before opening the door.
"Uh, sorry for being late, Professor. I kind of...woke up, well, not on time." Walking to the professor's desk, she grabbed a syllabus and took a seat in the front row. Quickly, she scanned the room. There were all girls, from what she could see. Bummer. But, going back to her syllabus, she looked over the class requirements, and payed an ear to whatever her professor would be talking about. Well, Atsuko did not know the first girl that came in after her, though she looked sort of small and putting those things together, she guessed that the girl must be a first year. As long as she was quiet and not too annoying, she would be tolerable, but in general Atsuko did not like first years – they were so full of themselves and usually annoying. She had heard that a bunch of first years had basically ruined the drawing class that took place the day before and hoped that the same thing wouldn’t happen here. Though, she doubted that would happen here, since the school seemed to discourage first years from taking this class.
After her Atsuko had a pleasant surprise as Akii came in. The two had met in the writing club last year and Atsuko liked the silver haired girl. She was also a pretty damn good writer, so Atsuko knew that she would enjoy reading the works of at least one other person in the class. Hopefully, though, everyone would be as good as Akii and as good as Atsuko though she was herself. In either case, Atsuko had, all of a sudden, a bit of hope for the way class would go. You see, she had been a bit nervous that the class would be full of bad writers and end up sort of shitty, but now that feeling was fleeting away from her.
But, Akii picked up a pack of paper from the teacher’s desk, which she found odd. But she did not have too much time to think about it, as the teacher, Professor Hikari, started to give her introduction spiel. Wait, syllabus? She didn’t have one. Did anyone? She looked around and the only person with any paper was Akii. Damn, those papers on the desk must have been the syllabus. Oh well, might as well just listen, pay attention, and pick one up later. Damn, Atsuko did not like the sound of a final presentation… or the teacher’s hard-ass late policy… or the idea of having to keep a journal and write on certain topics. This was starting to sound like more work than she had been planning and did not look like it would be particularly fun and easy. But, she wanted to get better, and the hope was that Professor Hikari could help her with that, so she might as well just do as she was told.

She glanced around the classroom and noted with obvious relief that none of the rowdy bunch from her Drawing class shared Creative Writing with her. Thank God. Akii had a good feeling about this class, for one, it was all girls so far—no noisy boys to cause a disruption and take away from the class’ learning, and two? Well, she just loved writing in general so it didn’t matter to her whether the professor loaded them down with assignments because she would gladly do them without complaint.
The silverette sat quietly in her seat, her eyes on the professor as she briefly explained the syllabus, it seemed pretty straight forward, definitely nothing that she hadn’t heard before in her other classes, as far as grading and projects and exams went, that is. The journal assignment was a little new to her, but it didn’t seem too out of the ordinary—this was a writing class after all so it went without saying that they’d be doing all sorts of writing. But nonetheless she made a mental note to run by the school store and pick up an extra notebook after class for the purpose of being her ‘class journal’. It’d probably be easier to keep the journal separate from the rest of her class assignments to avoid confusion, was her reasoning.
Her attention was momentarily diverted away from the professor when someone walked through the door, giving some excuse for being late before taking a syllabus and going to her seat. Akii bit her lip, her attention wandering back to Professor Hikari for a moment before her gaze strayed once again, this time to the syllabus in her hands. [/blockquote]

Aqua nodded at the students, a young female coming in late. She gave a quick apology for being late. The blunette nodded to the student,"It's the first day, I expected to have some latecomers...its fine." She looked at the class now, addressing this issue,"I don't mind you kids coming in late, just be discreet about it...don't make any fuss and don't draw attention to yourself. Also please note I do not take attendance but because of the small class size you can bet I'll know who isn't coming to class."
Aqua sighed, clicking the PowerPoint down to the last slide. She looked at her students,"Now I'll just do a quick explanation of the Journal and then we'll do some ice breakers so everyone gets to know everyone here." The woman stepped back from where she was, moving her body towards the computer. With a smile she grabbed a previous students journal...three in fact.
"Now, here are three examples of journals...this first one is very artsy done in a sketchbook," she said, putting it under the projection aspect so the students could see it. The machine was kind of like an overhead...but not if you understand what I mean. The woman pointed to certain areas,"Now as you can see each page has the minimum 300 words...but the student was creative by adding in drawings to help illustrate ideas and such...the second one was a standard journal with words...the thing I liked about this though was the student took the time to turn each entry into a poem...and this last one the student used photography in their journal."
The professor looked at her students...time for the ice breaker. "Now if there are no questions we can get onto the ice breaker...it will be really simple. I want each one of you to stand up, tell us your name, age, major, why your taking this class and one other thing about you. Of course to be fair I'll start. As you all know I'm Aqua Hikari, I'm 27 years old and I'm your professor. Something else...I'm fluent in English and French."

She paused there. What else was there to tell everyone? She touched her index finger to her chin for a second as she thought about it. Finally deciding on what else to say, she added, "I play tennis and I'm a midfielder for the soccer team." Now finished completely, she sat back down in her seat and continued to work on her drawing as the others did the ice breaker as well. She felt relaxed a bit now that she was done with hers. - - - - - - - - - - .Wordcount: 300..Place: Golisano - F2 - English Wing...Tag: Creative Writing Class..Notes: ....Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin.[/div] ~YOU KEEP GIVING ME SIGNS THAT YOU~ THINK I WANNA SEE ~BUT YOU'RE NOTHING LIKE YOU SEEM~

Table by Cloud from KC and Ventus from KU
