Math 110: College Algebra
Fall 2011

Course Description:
This class is an introduction to basic mathematical equations and their uses for use in higher math classes.
How to Succeed in this Class
Required Materials:
Course Requirements:
*Homework: 10% of your grade will be little writing assignments that I will have you do such as a poem to bring to class or a one page character summary.
*Quizes: 20% of your grade will be the 5 take home quizzes. because these are take home they will not be turned in late, its on time or you get a zero. No excuses.
*Tests: 35% of your grade will be two exams covering the sections that we cover in class. Your final exam will be a comprehensive exam made from these two exams.
*Final Exam: 35% of your grade is simply this last exam. It is a comprehensive exam of all units.
General Policies:
I expect all students to be respectful, quiet, and courteous at all times. No food or drink are allowed in class with the exception of a clear water bottle. The use of cell phones in any capacity (including but not limited to phone calls, texting, tweeting, twiterature checking email or voicemail, paging, downloading, surfing the internet, listening to music or radio, watching tv, geocaching or simply checking the time) during the class period is expressly prohibited. Cell phones must be turned off and stored prior to the start of each and every class period. The use of PDAs and computers is allowed on non testing days. If computers are repeatedly used for activities other than taking notes in class, their use in the classroom will not be allowed at all.
Academic Dishonesty:Academic dishonesty will not be permitted at any time. If you are caught cheating you will automatically fail the class and be put up to a hearing for academic dishonesty for suspension from the school.
Extra Credit: Extra credit opportunities will not be announced throughout the semester. I find them unimportant and they shall not be given.
Inclement Weather: In general, the University does not cancel class for bad weather. However, in the case of any unexpected circumstances that may impact our class meeting, the professor will inform you by email, if possible. If time does not permit this, an announcement will be posted at the classroom door(barring any unforeseen circumstances).

- A brain.
- Graphing Calculator
