I remember black skies the lightning all around me, I remember each flash as time began to blur.
It had been rather hot out all day long but it was becoming a bit humid now as well. The sun was still high in the sky, beaming down on the University grounds. They were expecting a thunderstorm later on and it was supposed to be a bad one. How bad, no one would really know until it actually got there. The news simply said that it was supposed to get really bad. Not that the weatherman was always right. If anything, he was normally wrong more often than not.
Akira sort of liked thunderstorm. He liked hearing the rain against his window and liked seeing the lightning flash across the sky. The thunder, he didn't mind it, though he didn't like it either. Sometimes, thunder was just annoying and loud. He'd prefer it greatly if the noise didn't exist. But it did, so he had to hear it when it stormed, most of the time. There were occasions when thunder didn't accompany the lighting, but that was because the noise was too far away to hear, usually.
But that didn't really matter right now anyway. The sun was still shining and there weren't very many gray clouds floating around. Not enough for the young man to worry about the impending thunderstorm, at least. He did, however, hope to be back at his place before it all started. Otherwise he'd be stuck out in the rain somewhere and he really didn't want that to happen.
Not that he didn't like being out in the rain, really. He didn't mind getting wet. It was more the fact that he'd have to walk a pretty good ways in the rain if it started up too soon. Unless he stayed on Kingdom University's campus. And he couldn't very well stay here all night long. It's not like he had a dorm room anymore.
Though, he didn't have any complaints with staying with someone else.
Back on topic though. He was currently heading towards the tennis courts. Why? There wasn't a real reason behind it or, at least, he didn't know of any real reason. Maybe it was because he was near the gym and he had heard the distant sounds of someone (possible more than just one someone) practicing. He was too far away to know if someone was practicing alone or had a practice buddy that wasn't a machine.
Yeah, that's probably what drew him towards the courts. It wasn't like he had anything else to occupy his time today, anyway. So why not spend some time just wandering around aimlessly? Or, at least, wonder towards a place where he knew a few people currently were. Sure, there were plenty of other people scattered all over campus, but he wasn't looking for a crowd.
Nope, one or two would do him just fine. Even better it they were attractive too.

The other Tennis Team members had gone already, rushing back to their dorms so that when the storm that was slowly brewing came they wouldn’t be caught in it. Riku on the other hand was content with staying outside and continuing to practice his swings. He didn’t mind getting caught in the rain he actually preferred it, especially after a day of practicing in the heat. He continued swinging his racquet each time the tennis ball came back towards him from hitting the wall infront of him. Each time he swung the racquet he added just a bit more force to it. He could feel his arm beginning to ache and soon he’d switch to his left arm. He’d learned how to play tennis with both arms, it was simple really, or at least he thought so. Then again his parents had expected him to be perfect in everything he did so did it even count anymore? He couldn’t imagine it did but it took that moment of doubt for his racquet to falter when the ball was coming at him.
The faltering racquet wasn’t enough to stop the tennis ball and as soon as the ball hit it, the racquet went flying from his hands. Riku stared at it for a moment, his breathing a little heavy and his arm throbbing slightly. He shook his head for a moment trying to get the doubt from his mind before grabbing his towel and wiping his forehead and neck with it. For a moment he scowled at the racquet before picking it up and testing the strings to see if they were alright. Nothing seemed too bad and the racquet was only a little beat up with landing on the ground with the force it had. He could keep practicing with no problems but suddenly he didn’t feel like it. Running a hand through his bangs he pushed them back off his face. Loosening the barrette that tied his hair back into the small ponytail he had on. He took a quick swig of his water before sitting down at one of the benches and looking up at the sky.
Leaning back against the bench and letting his arms support him as he leaned his head back too there was a part of him that wished it would rain already. He was just a little tired of all this heat and a little rain would be a nice change for a while. Everyone was pretty happy that the tennis team was getting better and so was he. The more practices they held the better it was and the harder they worked. Tennis was definitely Riku’s favorite sport, it was challenging and strategic. For some reason Riku’s mind drifted back to the storm that was supposed to be coming though. He didn’t have much to worry about since he was dorming on campus so his room was never far but still. He vaguely wondered how bad the storm would be. He liked rain and at times he liked thunderstorms, it eased his mind and put him to sleep.
But sometimes the Aftermath was what worried him. It was like people, you enjoyed hanging around them and even playing around. But the aftermath of certain things you did together or to others was always something that should be thought about. Maybe it was his subconscious trying to warn him about the storm brewing not to far from him but whatever it was. It wasn’t going to prepare him for the next events that were about to happen.

I remember black skies the lightning all around me, I remember each flash as time began to blur.
A building was blocking his view of the courts, currently, but he heard the ball smacking into something ever few seconds or so. He couldn't be sure, though, if it was coming into contact with two rackets or just one because the sound was muffled a little too much. He did come to the conclusion that there probably wasn't more than two people there, since he only heard enough noise for one tennis ball.
Hearing a crack of thunder in the distance, he paused long enough to look up at the sky. The clouds over and around the university were still white and fluffy, most of them. There were only a few gray ones lurking here and there. They still had a few hours before the storm, unless it just took over the sky out of nowhere. It had done that before, too, so he wasn't going to trust the color and slow movement of the clouds very much. After all, sometimes the sky is all bright and sunny one minute and all of a sudden it's pouring down.
He decided to just trudge onward. If it rained, it rained. He still hoped it'd wait until he got home but he wasn't going to get his hopes up. Anytime he got his hopes up about something like this it always backfired and he ended up getting soaked. Or, you know, shot down... or whatever. So he wasn't about to let that happen again. It was only a few seconds after he started walking again that he heard something hit the court. Something that sounded like a racket.
And, rounding the corner, he could finally see the tennis court, as well as the single person that was there practicing. Or, at least, the boy had been practicing. Not so much anymore though. He had just picked his racket up and was testing the strings when the 3rd year spotted him. And as the older male made his way over, he not only recognized who the guy was, but he spotted the guy running his fingers through his hair before taking a swig from his water bottle and taking a seat.
If it had been anyone else, Akira probably would have just made his way away from the tennis courts but, because it happened to be Riku, he continued moving closer to them. Why? Well, because he knew Riku, of course. Plus, he wanted to have a little fun with the second year. Maybe he'd manage to sneak up on him. That would be fun. To see the look on Riku's face. It'd be their first run-in since school started back up after the break and he had a great idea of what he wanted it to be like.
Akira grinned as he worked his way closer, careful not to make too much noise but not really looking as though he was trying to sneak around. It wasn't going to be quite as much fun since Riku was sitting down but he'd manage it somehow. When he was close enough to the bench, Akira creeped up behind it and threw his arms around Riku, moving his face next to the face of the silver-headed teenager. "Hey there, Riku~"

Riku had his moments, like right now, when he let his guard down completely and relaxed. It was moments like these when he was completely alone, or at least thought he was completely alone, that if caught unawares people saw a less calm and collected individual. Unfortunately one man always had an uncanny knack at catching Riku in these moments, like right now. Riku had allowed himself to let his guard down as he looked up at the sky, watching the clouds get darker and bigger. He had caught the sound of thunder a little ways off and he was considering if he actually wanted to get caught in it or not. He was tempted to, really very tempted since it had been a long time since he’d last felt rain on his skin.
Contemplating this decision he was so deep in thought that he didn’t hear any sound coming towards him like he normally would. Usually he was good at catching people trying to sneak up behind him but then there was always one guy who could usually catch him off guard as much as it irked and amused him. So when two arms wrapped around his shoulder as he was glomped and an all too familiar voice spoke, Riku pitched forward slightly letting out a small yelp as a light pink colored his cheeks in embarrassment. Once his brain registered the words and the voice Riku spluttered a moment before looking turning his face slightly to get a better look at Akira. It had been a while since he last saw him and it was their first encounter since the new start of the school year so he really should have been expecting this.
Riku mock glared at the male as he said huffily, “I still don’t know whether you have an uncanny knack at being in the wrong place at the wrong time or being at the right place at the right time. It’s up for debate.” Through his mock glare though there was a hint of amusement as Riku tried hard not to let the slight twitch upward at the corner of his lips show. He wasn’t really annoyed with Akira but he just found it fun to act annoyed with him. It was something that had been going on for a while now. Akira found it fun to try and break his façade at being the calm, cool and collected student while Riku bickered and tried to keep up the façade. It was like a game or a dance. Back and forth they went all the time and so far no one was winning. Though Riku was pretty sure Akira would disagree at that point.
Riku was slowly gaining his composure back as he eyed Akira’s arms, one eyebrow arched as though to say ‘can you unhand me’. In a rather bored manner Riku asked, “Do tell, how are you?” Internally Riku was berating himself for being so relaxed that Akira would get the drop on him and see him in such an un-calm position. It was slightly embarrassing in all truth that the other male had seen him like that. He was however, just slightly surprised that Akira was here now that he thought about it. Akira wasn’t usually on campus since he lived off campus and besides it was about to rain. Though Riku didn’t know when his classes ended so that could probably attribute to why Akira was still on campus.

I remember black skies the lightning all around me, I remember each flash as time began to blur.
Akira was quite pleased with how things turned out, considering he hadn't been very sure it'd go quite as planned. But things always seemed to work out well for him when it came to Riku. The silver-headed boy didn't usually let his guard down, not enough for this to have happened, and he had still managed to catch his younger friend off guard. The little yelp he received (not to mention the dust of pink that covered Riku's cheeks) was music to his ears and it made him grin even more than he already was. You'd think the boy'd have gotten used to this by now.
The mock glare he was given when Riku gathered his barrings only succeeded in making him chuckle a little and he nudged Riku's cheek with his own as the younger student spoke. With a smirk upon his lips, he commented with "I vote for 'right place at the right time' personally." After that he he continued to nudge the other boys face a bit, arms still locked around his shoulders. He so much enjoyed the pinkish tinge on the boys face, it sent a shiver up his spine.
It was up for debate as to why, exactly, it made him shiver like that, though. Maybe because it showed him he was getting through that cool composure? Or perhaps because it showed he was winning this battle? Of course, there were a few other things it could have been as well, those were just the first two that came to mind. All too soon, though, his pray was regaining his composure. And he didn't like that too much. He wasn't ready for that blush to fade away just yet.
The dark-headed twenty-one year old tightened his grip a bit, giving the silver-headed teen a squeeze. "I'm just wonderful. Now that I've found you, Riku~" he chimed. His voice carried a bit before he gave a devilish grin and licked Riku's cheek, much like a dog might if given the chance. There were a few reasons he did this. Mostly, though, he just wanted to see Riku's reaction to it. If there was any reaction at all. He sure hoped there would be. He felt a little thrill just thinking about it.
He wished the rain would fall already.
