Summary:
Ally’s fashion is generally sort of... all over the place. Though, generally it fits into two complementary categories, either sort of hipsterish or punky. In either case, she tends to wear jeans, which show quite a bit of stress all over, that fit tight to her legs. Her tops can rotate from puffy, plaid blouses, simple lumberjack flannel, and ironically bright polo shirts to torn band t-shirts and leather jackets. Like her tops, her feet rotate from flats to converse to combat boots, depending on mood and settings – whatever the case, though, her footwear always looks at least a little ratty and worn. To round out a typical outfit, her eyewear, whether it is sunny or not, is often either highlighter yellow Wayfarers or brown aviators. This seems to give a general idea to her fashion sense, though it is somewhat chaotic, the description, that is – the description also gives the impression that she dresses better than she does. Actually, Ally usually just wears jeans and an ironic, graphic or band t-shirt, nothing so exceptional as when she decides to go over the top with one style or the other. Her sunglasses, however, are not merely cosmetic, though, as she does require glasses – when at home or in class – she wears a retro pair of BCGs she bought a few years ago from a surplus store. Though, that’s not really the whole story, there’s also the fact that she likes to dress up in crazy costumes, bright patterns, dyed hair, and all that other nonsense that goes along with dance clubs and electro music. So, really, it’s hard to give one base description – it’s far easier to just say whatever she feels like, she probably has one in her closet/dresser

Today was a fairytale
Likes: Science fiction, dinosaurs, music (in pretty much every form), art house movie theatres, playing the electric guitar, deconstructing shit, doing it yourself, Girls with Slingshots
Dislikes: People who say, “I just don’t like ‘X genre of music’”, reconstructing shit, Pol Pot, people who think they’re better at “X” than they actually are, Hitler
Strengths: Ally is a pretty good guitarist, not the greatest, but good. She’s also pretty good at literary criticism, she’s in her fifth year of doing it, so we would hope she is
Weaknesses: She has a deep compulsion to tell people when they’re wrong. She is also very defensive and gets angry quick. She is afraid of clowns and is “racist” against them.
Personality:
Generally, Ally is sort of agreeable and laid back. Of course, that is generally speaking. But yeah, she’s sort of nice to go up and talk to, friendly and all that, despite her often less than friendly appearance. The worst you’ll usually get from her is a bit of pretension and the general feeling that she thinks she’s better than you, but everyone can put up with at least a little bit of that. Plus, she’s not that bad, just uses big words and long sentences – both of which the people at Kingdom University seem generally averse to. The main exception is when she’s talking about music or the issue of music has been brought up. It’s her life, so understandably, she gets a bit defensive and overzealous about it at times. If Ally is yelling at someone or using strong words, it’s often over the issue of music, often when someone who thinks she knows a lot saying something stupid. In her opinion, though, the best way to get to know someone’s personality is to see them act – so go read some history.
All that I can say is that it's getting so much clearer

History:
Born twenty-four years ago, Ally had a relatively mundane childhood, nothing particularly special about it. Her parents, or more accurately her mother, were rather overbearing and overprotective. As such, for much of her young life, she had few friends and learned to entertain herself and get by on her own. Even still, there are times when she just wants to go read, watch television, listen to Television, or play a video game until her eyes/ears bleed. But now, Ally is slightly better adjusted and does not spend as much time alone as she did when a child.
That would most likely be due to her blossoming in middle school. At least until near the end of it. For the first year and a half (of course, this a gross generalization and oversimplification) she kept more to herself, she had a few friends she talked with in class and ate lunch with, but for the most part she still kept to herself, rarely actually spending time with people outside of school hours, except for a couple of friends who lived in her neighborhood who she saw on a semi-regular basis. But, anyway, as middle school went on and as she became more comfortable on her bike, she started seeing friends on a more regular basis, going out and hanging out with friends more frequently. The other important event of middle school was finding a cassette tape called Le Tigre sitting by the side of the road. Ally listened to the tape until it became unraveled and this was when she started learning to play the electric guitar, in the seventh grade.
High school was a bit different, to say the least. Ally had managed to convince her parents to send her to one of those fancy magnet schools, and she went to one that specialized in the fine arts and humanities. As such, she felt comfortable to neglect the hard sciences, feel apathetic about the soft ones, and focus almost solely on the arts. She continued to nurture her musical skills, branching out from just electric guitar, also learning to play the cello and bass guitar. But, more importantly than her musical skill, Ally learned to appreciate literature, art, film, and music in ways beyond what she previously had – she particularly enjoyed applying critical theory to pop culture and contemporary works. In her senior project, she analyzed Èapek’s War with the Newts, particularly paying attention to the cyclical notion of history that the last chapter posits.
Of course, this time period was not all learning string instruments and art criticism. She had friends and enjoyed herself, all the things that children of that age do – no need to go into all the specifics. During this time, though, she created her first band, with three classmates, who played a mix of electroclash, electropunk, and riot grrrl. That group only lasted a year or so, from early ’02 to late ’02. She joined a more traditional punk group for a few months in mid ’03, before joining up with another girl, , who she met at a Ladytron concert during the band’s Light & Magic tour. The two bonded not only over their taste in music (both of whom had eclectic tastes to say the least), but also in fiction, films, and Mesozoic reptiles. The girl’s name, well her stage name, was Sara Podh, and it was with Sara Podh that Ally adopted her stage name, Ally O’Ramus. Their group’s name was Feathered Dinosaurs, though their songs only occasionally touched on topics of contemporary paleontology. They tended to deal more with catchy pop hooks, the potential consequences of AI research, and gender issues. For their junior and senior year of high school, Sara and Ally become extremely close and decided that they wanted to put themselves completely into Feathered Dinosaurs. For their recordings, which were done DIY style, Ally would provide the lead, rhythm, and bass guitar parts, as well as one set of vocals and, if needed, cello, while Sara provided synth, electric drum kit, vocals, and whatever else was needed, since she was a multi-instrumentalist. They put out one CD, with the sort of distribution one would expect from a high school band’s album. They both applied to a number of schools, the best one Sara got into (the University of Dark City) was much better than the best one Ally got into (which was Kingdom University), but rather than run off to school, the pair took a year off to try and make a go of their band.
And in a few of the underground clubs in Dark City, the two made a semi-successful go of it. It was successful enough that the two decided to put off college for yet another year, to keep making music. They put out another album, with slightly better production values and distribution. However, despite their desire to keep scratching a meager living off of club owners and CD sales, the two decided to part ways to go off to college, though they stayed in close touch. During summers and other breaks, the two still did (still do) get together and write and play. In fact, between third year and fourth year, both Ally and Sara took a year off from their schooling to write, release, and tour a small bit around some dance clubs – their biggest gig was opening for the Scissor Sisters in Dark City, so nothing too exciting, right?
Anyway, let’s get back to the main story, right? So, eventually, Ally Onim went to college, at Kingdom University. She was not particularly happy about it, but she had not gotten into the University of Dark City and had gotten a generous scholarship to KU, so it would not be all bad. That’s what she hoped. In reality, Ally found KU sort of boring and uneventful. The classes all seemed like they were designed to get you a job, not teach you and most of the ones in the interesting departments, like Art and Music and Theatre and History and English, all seemed to be about learning to do it not learning about it. Who wants to learn to draw or act or play piano in university? Still, she has managed to read some and learn some – and the plus side of this place is that it has not seemed very hard, especially not when compared to what Sara was doing in Dark City. But on the plus side, Ally managed to learn vicariously, through Sara. Every semester, Ally takes as few classes as possible, in an attempt to do as little work as possible and every semester she feels like she does way too much work for class and wishes she had more time to read and study what she wants. But, hey, at least she takes it upon herself to learn on her own, right? So it’s not like she’s a complete lazy bum.
