Summary:
Tall and lanky most would consider Ao a bit awkward for his age but those thoughts are quickly taken back when they see him move. Exceptionally graceful even though he’s pretty tall, reaching close to the six feet range, Ao likes the surprise in peoples faces when they see him move especially those back home. Having been the awkward self-conscious kid when he was younger Ao has grown into his looks quite well since when he was a child. His has a pale complexion although it contrasts stunningly with his hair and eyes it doesn’t make him look sickly. On the contraire it gives him an almost fragile look although he’s anything but. He’s not very muscled but he’s lithe and shapely from years of dance classes though music is his real passion. Don’t let his fragile looks fool you though he can pack quite a punch when he wants.
Soft teal colored hair shape his face nicely and contrast handsomely with his pale complexion. He never really bothers doing his hair, always letting it hang around his face whether it’s messy or not. Sometimes it spikes up a bit in the back and other times when he gets annoyed with it he’ll put it in a small ponytail. His eyes are another eye-catching feature seeing as they are the same color as his hair. A soft, lively teal that seem to sparkle with untold fire and a strong will behind them. Ao’s eyes are usually what he gets complimented on which isn’t too surprising. Something that isn’t surprising to see on Ao’s person is a scarf around his neck or headphones on his head and a smile on his face.
You've got a smile that takes me to another planet

Ao is a silly, optimistic young man who can rarely see the bad in people. He’s the guy everyone seems undeniably drawn to because of his open and carefree attitude. He’s playful, sweet and always willing to lend a helping hand. He is very studious but knows how to take a break and just relax sometimes. He’s the party lover and the first to suggest a fun idea. Ao can always be seen with a smile on his face or a laugh just tumbling from his lips. It’s rare to see Ao with any other expression than a happy one for the simple fact that Ao is like the sun, always bright and shining even if its only just a serene smile on his face. He’s easy to befriend and although not completely trusting it’s not all that hard to get him to trust you though it is quite easy to loose his trust.
However, there is a secret side to Ao though. A more solemn and sad side is hidden behind his optimistic side. This side is the actual Ao, a young man who is hurt and wallowing in pain. He doesn’t like people seeing this side of him since he feels like he’s letting people down if they do see this side of him. This side of Ao is thanks to an accident that happened when he was younger and it changed him. He created a happier mask and began adorning that in memory of what had happened. No one has seen this side of him save for a few people from his younger years but he’s gotten over it. This side of him is quieter and more thoughtful, always the observer and never really taking action. In a way this Ao is a bit more pessimistic then his happier self which is no fault of his own.

History:
When Ao was born to Alice and Kyo Higurashi he’d been born alongside his fraternal twin sister, Ami. Alice had been a foreign exchange student that Kyo had fallen in love with and fresh out of highschool and in their first year of college they ended up together. Without a thought both had become adolescent parents to twins but neither cared so long as they had each other. At first things were fine and dandy, Kyo and Alice were making it through the days in college without a care and they were doing well providing for both twins. But soon enough things began to take its toll on Alice and she grew weaker, never really fully recovering from the birthing process. In their sophomore year in college when both Ao and Ami were merely a year old, Alice had been driving back home when she suddenly fainted behind the wheel of the car.
It caused a huge accident as Alice’s car went into the opposite lane, another car hitting hers before the car went off the road. It was a miracle the children got out of it with only minor injuries but Alice was dead immediately. The doctors stated that some how they hadn’t realized she’d gotten a tumor; it had hemorrhaged while she was driving. She never felt a thing. Kyo could no longer continue going to school with the thought that the love of his life wouldn’t continue going as well. He quit school and took up the best job that he could find to provide for Ao and Ami. The two never realizing what they’d lost or even what could have happened to them. Both Ao and Ami grew up loved and slightly over protected. Kyo refused to let them stay out late with their friends or even let them sleep over at their friends. They always had a curfew and they could never be out of their father’s sight when they went out with him.
Ao always accepted the way his father acted being the younger and quieter of the two siblings. However, his sister Ami was the exact opposite. Brimming with life and boundless energy Ami always questioned her father and his reasons, always trying to push his boundaries and see what she could get away with. As the twins grew older it got worse and to please his sister Ao also began to push when she pushed him. One day, in highschool during their junior year Ami wanted to go to a friend’s party and she wanted Ao to come along. Of course, knowing Ao and how he always obeyed their father, he refused at first but after a little pushing he relented. They waited until they were sure their father was asleep before slipping out the window and rushing to the friend’s party. At first it was all a blast and they had fun but when they left it was nearly morning and well past midnight.
They were rushing across the street when it all happened and it happened in a flash. A car thought it could eat a red light and came zooming past it, all in a single second when Ami rushed ahead of Ao and into the street it happened. It hit her. Ao’s voiced warning never reaching her in time and his outstretched hands never grabbing her out of the way. What was worse was that the car kept on driving, never stopping to see the damage. The next hours were a blur to Ao as the ambulance came and rushed them to the hospital, calling his father, waiting outside the surgical room, his father’s shouts, the flash of pain from his father’s slap, the doctor’s apology but what he does remember are the doctor’s words stating she’d fallen into a coma and she’d likely never wake up again. Ao fell into a deep depression after that. His grades fell, he barely slept, barely ate or drank anything and he could barely bring himself to get out of bed. His father was angry with him and his friends always through him pitying looks.
The only thing that made him change was the thought of his sister. He knew if she saw how he’d become she’d be upset with him. For the first time he visited her in the hospital and sat by her comatose body…he cried. He said how sorry he was and that he’d make it up to her. From then, Ao slowly changed. His personality morphed and his grades began to rise again but the only thing he couldn’t change was his father’s anger towards him. So when the time to start applying to colleges came Ao applied for Kingdom University with top grades and marks. Much to his surprise by the end of his senior year he’d found out he’d gotten a scholarship to KU. Without a thought he accepted it, running to his sister’s hospital room and expressing his wishes that she could see him now.
For two years spent in KU Ao hid the quieter, more solemn side of himself and showed people only what he wanted them to see. Which was a vibrant young man who wanted to do nothing more than sing. Because it had been because of his sister and music that he’d tried to change himself for the better.
