Things had changed the past summer after he'd came back from home. he hadn't been able to stand even the thought of staying in that house for the summer and he'd stayed here with some friends. There were times though like when he thought about his brother Ryuu that made him want to go back and see how he was doing. Riku had noticed early on that Ryuu wasn't completely...okay and the family doctors only verified what Riku had thought. However, Riku loved his newly appointed brother whether he was blood or not. Riku was shocked to see how much softer his mother had gotten since the latest addition to their family. Something seemed a little off now though, rooms he'd been able to in before he'd been banned from and it made him curious. Riku didn't question his mother or brother's suspicious behavior though when they answered his curious questions. Riku had met his father once through the whole time he'd seen his father and the meeting had made Riku realize something that scared him. it'd been a realization that was enough to make Riku avoid the man the rest of the time he'd stayed there and it was the reason that even though Riku wanted to check up on his little brother he'd stayed away from home.
Riku brushed the thoughts aside just as he saw a familiar head of hair not far from him. he looked down at the sketch book in his hands and smiled slightly. he knew exactly what to do to make himself feel a little better. Rushing towards the feminine figure he slowed a little once he got close and crept towards her before covering Addie's eyes with his hands, even though one was occupied. "Guess who~" His lilting voice spoke in a sing song way as he teased her slightly.
he backed up and smiled at her warmly as he looked down at the girl, brushing his bangs away from his eyes as he studied the girl. She'd always been pretty little thing and it made him a little protective of her but also a little proud to know her. "How are you?"
His nose crinkled a little as he smiled at her again, it was good that the first familiar face he saw was Addie's. Something about her was always calming and it put him at ease in a way. Besides he'd missed her during the vacation and the long time he'd been gone.

She'd had little time to do much other than school related things, not even bothering to go anywhere fun. But maybe that had a little bit to do with the beach being the place everyone she knew wanted to go?
She didn't like the beach. Her sister had gone to the beach with some of her friends and, though Addie hadn't wanted to stay by herself, she'd passed up the invite. Because she couldn't swim. And she was kind of afraid of water. And being at a beach when you were afraid of water isn't really ever a good idea.
So she'd stayed at school rather than going off to have fun. She'd thought about going home, but her parents had also gone on vacation somewhere. There really wasn't much else she could do. By the time boredom began to sink in, all the people she didn't mind spending time with were gone. And a vacation of any sort by yourself wasn't much of a vacation.
But school was starting back up now and everyone was returning. She'd seen plenty of familiar faces already, as she walked around the campus. None that she really talked too, but familiar faces all the same. Truth be told, she was actually roaming the campus in the hopes of finding someone in particular.
Or, well, one of a few someone's in particular. Someone she didn't mind being with. Someone she actually talked too, maybe. Maybe even someone she could play a quick game of tennis with or something. Anyone to relieve the boredom and lonliness without her wanting to lock herself in her room.
She was pretty lost in her thoughts, caught up in searching the crowds that had gathered here-and-there. "Guess who~" She know the voice anywhere and, really, there weren't many people that liked sneaking up behind her and covering her eyes. "I wonder..." She trailed off, pretending to think about it for a few seconds. "...Riku maybe?" A small smile made it's way onto her face.
It had been a while since she'd last seen him, longer than just the summer break. She turned to face him as soon as his hands were moved and, head tilted just a bit, smiled up at him. His smile was refreshing, as was seeing him after so long. "I'm alright, what about you? It's been a while."
Adelaide had definitely missed Riku, more than she'd probably ever let on. And now that she was in his company, ever bit of boredom from the summer completely vanished and she felt fully refreshed.[/style] | [cs=3][STYLE=font-family: bradley hand itc; color: maroon; font-size: 11px; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #333]Coded by Soronus of CT, BTN & LS[/style] |

A low breathy chuckle escaped his lips as he removed his hands from her eyes and took a slight step back. Warmth spread through him as she turned around and smiled at him. He was only just realizing how much he missed her. He’d grown rather close to her, closer than he got to most people. He knew he could trust Addie with anything and most of the time he did. He took a strand of her hair and began to fiddle with it absentmindedly as she answered his question. He winced a little and gave her an apologetic look when she mentioned how long it’d been. He was sorry he hadn’t been able to see her before he left to his father’s house during his second year. When he had come back he’d tried looking for her but he hadn’t been able to find her before he had to go visit his family’s house again. He tugged on the strand he was fiddling with gently in a sign of playfulness as he said, “I’m sorry Addie. Something had come up with home and I had had to leave rather quickly. I tried to find you when I came back but…”
He let his voice trail off, his gaze darkening as he looked over her shoulder and remembered the events. He shook his head as though to shake off the memories and smiled at her. He continued playing with a strand of her hair for a moment, he’d always been a rather touchy-feely child but there were very few people he allowed himself the luxury of being that way with. Addie was just one of the few. He flicked her playfully on the forehead and asked, “What was your summer like? Did anything new and exciting?”
If he knew Addie as well as he thought he did, she probably didn’t go out all that much. It was something he adored about her, she wasn’t like most girls and it was refreshing to say the least. A wicked grin grew on his face as he looked at her and said, “You know…now that I think about it…you owe me a modeling session for my sketches.”]
Okay so he was being a little manipulative and sneaky…and maybe sly but it was true. She owed him a modeling session from last year just like he owed her a tennis match. He snorted a little in amusement at his thoughts. They certainly were an odd pair. Most people who saw them together automatically thought that they were a couple and many of their friends tended to think that ‘they looked cute together’. Now that he actually looked at Addie, he could see why. She was pretty and in her own way was very beautiful. They complimented each other and were rather close for most female/male friends. He did get rather jealous when others had her attention when she was around and he did go to her with a lot of his problems. So it wasn’t very hard to see why people thought they were together and sometimes there was a flicker of something within him for her. However, Addie was Addie and he adored her too much to even play with the idea.

The were close, the two of them. Had been since their meeting back in high school. On the islands. She'd been only fourteen at the time, a freshman. And a new student to boot. He'd found her during one of her panic attacks and had helped her through it when she thought she wouldn't make it.
Those panic attacks were a lot less common now, rare even, thanks to his help back then. He'd given her some tips on how to control them and how to make them pass more quickly and with the least amount of damage possible. And it worked. Still was. She hadn't had a single attack since becoming a first year here at KU. It probably also helped that she stayed away from things that tended to set the attacks off. But she knew that, no matter what happened or where she was, she'd be just fine if Riku was there. He just had a way of calming her down, without really ever trying. Just like now, his absentminded fiddling with her hair, it was doing a wonderful job of keeping her attention away from everything but him.
“I’m sorry Addie. Something had come up with home and I had had to leave rather quickly. I tried to find you when I came back but…” A frown set itself on her face at the way his mind wondered, recalling whatever had happened during the time he'd been away. She knew better than to pry, knew that he'd tell her when, if, he felt like it. There was a silent understanding between the two of them, one that let them open up completely without worrying about anything. They didn't judge one another and they both listened and gave whatever helpful advice they could.
"Your family's more important, you don't have to apologize for anything." The smile was on her face again, soft and sweet like always. It was true that his parents were cruel at times, but they were still his family. And she'd never keep him from going home to them, or try to make him feel guilty about it. It didn't really matter what had happened or why he'd gone back. Not to her. Because she knew it must have been something important.
A playful flick to the forehead pulled her attention away from his hand and, once again, back to his face. She really couldn't help musing over how handsy he was when they were alone, knowing he wasn't that way with many other people. It just proved how close they were, how comfortable in each other's presence they tended to be. “What was your summer like? Do anything new and exciting?” She had to roll her eyes, knowing that he already had the answer in mind. He knew her well enough that an answer wasn't needed, though she couldn't quite pass up the chance to mess around. "Oh, you know. Swimming at the beach and exploring a cave. The usual stuff." Of course you couldn't pay her to do either of those things.
Well... maybe Riku could so long as he was willing to have the life squeezed out of his hands and, possibly, have a very panicky girl to deal with.
“You know…now that I think about it…you owe me a modeling session for my sketches.”
She'd kinda hoped he'd forgotten about that. Modeling for anything wasn't really a hobby of hers and she didn't too much like having her picture done (photograph or otherwise). But then again, it was Riku that had asked her to do it and she had, of course, agreed. And so, unable to say anything close to 'no, I've changed my mind about that' she tilted her head a little bit, "Oh, I'd almost forgotten about that. To bad I'm not wearing any kind of modeling attire then, huh?" She knew she wasn't getting out of it and, really, she didn't care too. Riku was an artist and if he wanted to sketch her, she'd let him.
With the way that people already looked at the two of them, it wouldn't be any kind of big deal. At least not to most. The majority of KU's student body already thought the two of them were together, simply because of how close they were. It seemed to be the common consensus that you couldn't be really close friends with a member of the opposite sex unless you were dating. Or fooling around. Neither of which were going on between herself and Riku. They were just really good friends, nothing more to it than that. And while she did actually have a crush on him, she was actually rather content with the way things were.
