He couldn't believe it! He had actually made it to his second year of college without failing any of his classes, the amount of relief Sora had felt upon receiving his final grades last semester had been overwhelming. For sure he thought that he would have at least failed his Math and History courses, but nope! Though he'd have to admit that he did have tutors who had helped him along the way and he owed it all to them.
So here he was, a 2nd year student in college, I just really like being able to say that, haha. He mused giddily. It was the first week of classes and, of course, his professors hadn't given them much homework, if any at all, while the students get settled in and re-acclimated to university life. The brunet didn't know what to do with himself, now that he had so much free time to himself, though he knew that in the coming weeks he'd be bombarded with assignments and projects that he needed to enjoy what free-time he had now because petty soon he'd be holed up in the library or the study labs.
A groan escaped through his parted lips, and he ran a hand through his mess of spikes, "I don't even wanna think about that, ugh."
He hadn't seen a majority of his friends from last year, though he knew it was only a matter of time before they showed up. But that didn't exactly help him out now. He was lonely and wanted someone to talk to, Sora didn't really do too well with being left alone for long (and even short!) periods of time.
The boy settled for passing the time by kicking around a soccer ball that he'd brought with him for practice. The soccer team wouldn't start practice for another week or so, he had spent all summer practicing and had been excited to go back to school and get back in the swing of playing for a team. There was nothing quite like it.

[atrb=width,450px,bTable][atrb=valign,top] Stepping out of the commons, Aqua inhaled deeply, letting fresh air wash through her lungs. It eased the slight tremor in her fingers, made her release the tight grip on the open letter in her hands. If there was any downside to being offered a position at Kingdom University, it was the fact that it was so far from her family. It had always amused her parents were so old fashioned. They had a computer that gathered dust and a single cellphone between them that more often than not got left at home. No matter how many times she and Holland scolded them ('What if you got into an accident? What if you needed help? How would you get a hold of us?'), they would always shrug it off, often with one of her father's lame jokes.
That's why she wasn't terribly surprised to find a letter with her parent's return address on it when they could have easily called. What had surprised her was how terribly emotional the supportive words it offered had made her. They cheered her on enthusiastically, restated for the millionth time how proud they were of her, questioned how she was getting along and when she was coming back for a visit, and ended with a powerfully sober note of love that made her eyes swell with tears immediately.
Aqua touched below her lashes, making sure she hadn't cried without realizing it. It was fortunate, as she lowered her head to do so and saved herself the pain and embarrassment of tripping on the soccer ball and landing directly on her face. "Ah." She stuttered to a stop, noticing the black and white ball roll in front of her foot. Aqua looked up, having no trouble picking out the individual whose practice area she had stumbled into. She shifted her weight, lifting a foot, and rolled the ball under her foot. "Here you go!"
Carefully, Aqua kicked the ball back in the boy's direction. She'd loved being outside, playing sports since she was young, but she'd never tried her hand at soccer. When the ball rolled directly back to the brunette instead of in some crooked direction as she had expected, she grinned, proud of herself.
Aqua lifted blue eyes to the boy's, tilting her head. "Playing by yourself?" She asked, folding up the letter in her hand and slipping it back into the envelope it had come in. She was almost grateful for the interruption: the more she thought on the loving words of her parents or shaky scrawl of the writing, the harder it was to bite back her tears.

Sora had been balancing the ball on his head, timing how long he could keep it there before it would roll off and he would catch it with his knee, bouncing it up and down before it had the time to hit the ground. The brunette always got pretty into his practicing, whether he was playing alone or with someone else, and didn’t even realize that the strength that he put behind his last kick before he was standing there watching as the ball sailed through the air. It landed a ways away and he was about to chase after it when he noticed a young woman heading straight for it. Unsure as to whether or not she even saw it lying there or not, Sora jogged forward, his arm outstretched, “Hey, watch out!”
A sigh of relief blew over his parted lips as she stopped just in time, avoiding a nasty fall. He would have felt absolutely awful if he had been the cause of another person’s injury. He had a guilty conscious as it was and having that weigh heavily on him would’ve prevented him from sleeping for weeks even if it had only resulted in a few minor scratches. “Sorry ‘bout that! I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention to what I was doing…” He laughed sheepishly, hoping that she wouldn’t rip him a new one for being so careless.
She rolled the ball back to him with ease, but instead of stopping it with his foot he tossed it into the air with his foot and bounced it up and down on the top of his head for a moment or two. When he was done unintentionally showing off he let the black and white ball fall into his hand before tucking it safely beneath the crook of his arm to prevent any more accidents from potentially happening.
He nodded, almost ashamed that he was caught playing by himself, “Yeah. Seems as if everyone’s got something else to do, but I don’t mind. Practice is practice, ya’know?” He leaned back on his heels, his lips curved into a goofy grin, “I’m Sora by the way. Sorry for almost killing you.” He was joking, of course, but he felt the need to toss in a lighthearted comment to diffuse the uncertainty he was feeling about the situation and what could have happened if she hadn’t noticed the ball in time.
