school had let out about an hour ago and, by now, most of the kids had returned home or were busy taking part in whatever school activity it was that they had taken an interest in. few elementary school children were still roaming the streets, not because it wasn't safe but because they were all occupied in some way or another. sports and clubs at school, homework or games and home, playing in the park.
kazunari had headed straight home, like he always did, and had already finished all of his homework. it was easy stuff for him, considering he only had to read something once in order to memorize it. this meant that he was left with nothing to, but he didn't really mind. there was always something he could find to pass the time. play some games, watch some movies, take a nap, read some manga, watch some anime. so many things.
currently, though, he was downstairs looking through the fridge. he was a bit hungry, so he made himself a sandwich and a glass of juice before taking both the the living room and putting them on the coffee table. he sat himself upon the floor with his back against the front of the couch, turning on the television and browsing through the many netflix titles that were available before settling on just watching sgt. frog for a while.
it was something easy to follow and funny. it wouldn't take much to keep up with what was going on, even as he ate his food and then sorted all of his candy by size and flavor. he even had the little bags to sort them into ready to use.

Jun had just got home and was feeling snacky. She walked into the kitchen and pulled out peanut butter and jelly for a pb&j sandwich. She opened the jars up and pulled two slices of bread out and laid them on a napkin. She spread the peanut butter and jelly on each slice and put them together. She put the tops back on and put them up. She grabbed a wet washcloth and wiped the counter down of any messes that she made. She then grabbed herself a Yahoo chocolate milk bottle out of the fridge and shut the fridge down behind her. After grabbing her little snack, she walked into the living to see Kazu already home. He seems to not have notice her yet. She walked over and laid her stuff on the coffee table in front of the couch and plopped right beside Kazu. She said with a smile, "Hey Kazu, how was school?" Jun figured it was rather dull, but something fun could had happened. Who knows? She took her sandwich and took a bite out of it and sipped her drink after putting her sandwich back down.

kazunari munched on his sandwich. it was just a ham sandwich, black forest ham, but he quite enjoyed it. he'd made it like he'd have gotten it at a shop; with cheese, lettuce, pickles, and a little mayonnaise. his glass of juice was of the orange variety, tangy but still sweet. the glass was half empty now, and his sandwich over half gone, but that was just fine. it would be enough to tide him over till supper.
his candy was scattered here and there about the coffee table, all in neat stacks according to size and flavor. he had a pretty big variety, and quite a bit of each kind, because he'd been saving it up for a while. he'd had himself a cavity that had kept him from eating sweets for the last couple of weeks, after all. but he'd be munching the stuff down again soon enough.
when his sister sat her own snack down and sat beside him, he smile up at her. "welcome home!" he always greeted his siblings when they came in after he did; he liked welcoming them home. it didn't hurt that his brother usually ruffled his hair after. and his brother's friend did, too. "school was okay. nothing really happened." his smile broadened to a grin for a moment before he turned his attention back to his candy.
it was hard to not unwrap one and eat it, but he knew that if he did it would hurt. so he refrained and began dropping the morsels into little plastic snack bags, and then dropping those into a larger bag that would end up hold everything.
"how was it for you?" he glanced his sisters way as he took another bite of his sandwich and sip of his juice.

Jun sat there watching Sgt. Frog with her little brother. The show was very funny and also made no sense half the time. Her favorite was the red frog...what was his name again? The fantasies he has with the girl are hilarious to her for some reason.
"School was okay. Nothing happened." That was good to hear. At least the punks at his school are laying low now. Though that can't be said for Jun. Every now and then, she comes home with bruises from some kids messing with her a little too much. This kind of thing happened the other day actually.
She was walking out of the school building when a few kids started to follow her and teasing her. They called her a brat and a bunch of other cruel names, just because she was rich. She's learned to keep herself hardened with these kind of things. Then they eventually walked off and one of them mentioned finding little Kazu. That set her off and turned right around. Before the boy turned to see Jun behind him, he got a face full of her fist and a kick in the knee. He fell quick, but the other two came at her at once. They got her down for a moment and kicked her, but she grabbed one of their legs and squeezed tightly until they fell in pain. She then took a stick and hit the bare stick on the other boy's leg and then pushed him down. She had a little blood on her lip, but she stood over them leaving a message for them and limped her way back home.
She was still sore from that day and had some bandaids on her arms and legs. She was about to excuse herself to grab some pain medicine when her brother asked about her day. "Oh it was a normal day of school." She felt a bit of pain in her leg and excused herself to go find the medicine. She went through the cabinets and pulled out some Tylenol. She took a pill and pull the bottle up. She limped back in the living room to see the episode of the contest from Sgt. Frog on. She chuckled a bit from all the corny jokes that were made.
She sat down and stuck the pill in her and mouth and took a drink of her Yahoo to help it go down. Putting her drink down, she grabbed her sandwich and took another bite. Her brother still has no idea on what happened yesterday and she preferred it this way. Kazu didn't need to worry about her when she could take care of herself. Of course, she had to answer to her parents about it.
She took a drink and then turned to Kazu. "So you got any homework to do?" Jun figured he didn't or he wouldn't be watching Netflix. But she always has to make sure.

kazu hummed in response, his mouth full of ham sandwich. he was glad she'd had a normal day, it certainly beat her having a bad one. he may have been young, small, and relatively weak but he loved his sister and he wouldn't have stood for anyone messing with her. of course, he couldn't even try to protect her if she didn't tell him what was going on or who it was that was messing with her. not that he'd really be able to protect her anyway. he couldn't even protect himself, other people had to do it for him.
his eyes followed jun as she left the room. he wished he was stronger, so that he could protect her like she and their brother protected him. he could see the limp she was walking with and he knew that she was hurting, yet all he could do was sit there and watch. what kind of protector would he be, anyway? he couldn't say anything to the people that bothered her. he couldn't say anything to anyone, save his siblings and a certain friend of his brother's -who, by every right, was just as much a brother to him as his real brother was, or that's what he thought about it at least-.
once she'd reentered the room, his eyes moved back to the television and he took another bite of his sandwich and a big sip of juice. as he was counting out one of his piles of chocolates, he pushed one across the table next to his sisters drink. "it was an odd number." and he couldn't have an odd number of candy in any of his bags.
glancing at his backpack, which was against the wall by the living room entryway, he shrugged his shoulders. he did have homework, it just wasn't due tomorrow so he didn't really see any point in bothering with it yet. "it's due wednesday." he pushed a piece of peppermint in her direction, "odd."
he finished off his sandwich and drank a little more of his orange juice, lifting his eyes up to watch the anime for a few moments before looking back down at his goodies.

Jun rarely had any homework because its either done at school or the teacher didn't assign any. The only reason she brings any to work at home is when she doesn't feel like doing it at school. She never had any problems doing it at home, but she'd rather be spending time doing things she wants to do than on homework. So why not get it done in class? The teacher does get on to her when she catches Jun doing it in class. Then she gets a lecture about its called homework for a reason and not classwork.
As she continued to watch Sgt. Frog, Kazu started handing her pieces of candy from his piles. Though she never understood his issue with odd numbers, it was the last thing thought on. Jun didn't have to understand it, its something he can't help and that's okay.
As she ate the chocolate that his brother gave him, she chuckled a bit at what happened on Sgt. Frog. Such a funny show, but it seems to have no plot in the least bit. Well not a consistent one. Another candy slid over to her and she turned and smiled. "Have you found any other animes on here that caught your eye?"
(Sorry for such a short post >.<, I was kind of running out of ideas but I kept you waiting long enough. Hope you can make something out of it.)

if he didn't procrastinate so much on it, he might not ever have homework at all himself. typically, there was time to do most of it in class, when he'd finished all of his classwork, but he always just sat there and looked out of the window. daydreaming about various things was more fun than doing work that didn't need to be done until later.
or maybe he didn't do it in class because he already stood out enough. he always finished his work before everyone else, no matter what it was for, and his test scores were always top notch. the only time he hadn't had a perfect ending score was when he'd missed a week of school because he'd gotten pneumonia. and, even then, his score had only dropped because of his attendance, even though he'd had a doctor's note and the week was supposed to be excused.
no. it had a lot more to do with procrastination and daydreaming. doing his homework in class wouldn't make him stand out any more than he already did. he just liked sitting there, looking out of the window like the characters in anime tended to do. they sit there staring and then something big would happen to them. a notebook would fall from the sky, a hollow would show up and begin wreaking havoc, someone would run by trying to get away from a monster (or just someone else). the teacher would suddenly call on them and embarrass them in front of the whole class.
but none of that had happened to him, not outside of his imagination. not monsters, no one to rescue, no magical notebooks. the teacher didn't even bother calling him out; he wouldn't have been able to say anything in response anyway. anime was so much better than real life. even a kid like him, with no voice except when he was alone with the three people closest to him, would be able to have an adventure. even a kid like him, with no real skills and no special powers would be able to help out the main character (or even be the main character). even a kid like him, with no experience in anything, would manage to get a girl before everything was over.
well. maybe getting a girl wouldn't happen quite so soon. most of the canon pairings, especially where the main characters were concerned, didn't happen until the last episode. besides. he wasn't really sure if he wanted to 'get the girl' anyway. he figured he'd rather just have the three people he already had. his family. they were all he needed, really. 'and no, i'm not in love with them or anything. they're just really important to me.' is what he'd always tell himself when he thought about things like this.
it wasn't just that that would make him change his mind in regards to 'getting the girl' though. he just had no experience. and, because of that, he didn't have any idea if he really even liked girls. maybe he was into guys? it would explain why he was so attached to- 'no, that's stupid. they have nothing to do with it.' but him being into guys could still be true. or maybe he'd end up liking both? or perhaps he was just asexual and didn't really care for that kind of thing at all. or maybe he was demisexual and that was why his thoughts always went back to them.
"there are a lot of anime that sound really good. most of them are rated pretty high though. but there are some that i might watch anyway. it's not like i haven't heard most stuff before and i think they're mostly just rated for language." in most cases, at least. but you could generally tell when an anime would have more than that by reading the description. a horror anime would mostly likely have violence and gore. a romance rated high might have nude scenes and stuff.
a dystopian where everyone thinks they live in a utopia until they actually learn the truth, though. maybe it would have some violence but, well, war was violent too and he learned about that just about every day. and then there were the anime that weren't rated very high that still looked interesting. "sword art online sounds interesting. and then there's gundam 00 and steins;gate. summer wars is supposed to be a really good movie. but i think i want to watch no. 6 more than anything else."
the setting for no. 6 was just so interesting. living in a world that was perfect, where everything is taken care of by the government. no crime, no pain, no worries. and then, one day, you find out that the world isn't actually a utopia at all. nothing is as it seems and the more you find out, the worse things become.
as terrible as that world might be, and without having watched the anime or read the manga or novels, he thought he'd like to live there. uncovering the truth, exploring the district, and making other people see that they were actually living in a dystopia. it sounded like a lot of fun. because it sounded interesting.
"it's a real dystopia. where the setting isn't made to be a dystopia, but a utopia. it sounds interesting, doesn't it? but we can watch whatever you want. there's plenty of other anime that sounds good." he wouldn't make anyone sit and watch anything with him. but he could still try to sell it. if his sister liked it and wanted to watch it with him, well, that was better than watching it by himself. "it's a science fiction, action anime. and it's rated r to seventeen plus for violence and profanity. it's only eleven episodes." the rating was a bit high though. and it was tagged violent and profane. "but maybe we should just watch the new digimon?"
( ( over a thousand words. i got really carried away with his thoughts. xD hope you can work with this well enough. ) )

She really was curious about what animes he's caught on Netflix. The two usually have similar tastes, but haven't seen all the anime the other has seen. They rarely disagree on an anime as well. Rarely is used not because they've disagreed. In fact, they both enjoy all the same animes. But there's always a possibility that one or the other won't like the anime they chose while the other likes it.
As she sat there, she slipped the peppermint that was given by Kazu in her mouth and continued watching Sgt. Frog. How many episodes have they've gone through so far? They were halfway last she checked and three episodes have gone by. This is their fourth.
She looked up an anime or two last night that they could watch. So many animes and a lot of them are pretty good. There was one called Fairy Tail that she wanted to watch and wasn't sure that it was on Netflix. Maybe Kazu knows? She could always check on the internet on her phone. Maybe later she will.
Another she was wanting to check out was called Ao no exorcist. That she was pretty sure wasn't on Netflix so that will be an anime for the internet.
Her phone beeped and checked to see her alarm going off about something. What was it now? She felt a cold chill go down her neck when she read the description. Homework that was due tomorrow. And it was for the Literature part of her class. She had to write up a story that's at least a page. This is the first time she was nervous that she wouldn't get it done. Literature wasn't always her strongest. There were days where she did great and then days she'd struggle. Which is funny because her teachers and classmates are always amazed by her writing. Maybe she's just a big self-critic to her writing. That's probably it.
As she slid her phone in her pocket, she heard No. 6 and her attention turned over to him"I've heard that No. 6 was a really good one. Maybe we could watch that later." She kept thinking back on her story and pushed it back from her thoughts. It would get done tonight, she never misses an assignment.

there were too many anime to choose from, really. netflix had hundreds and the internet had thousands. it was never dificult to find something interesting but it was usually hard to decide which one to watch when you did. so it was a good thing that he and his sister both liked the same stuff. they could watch anything together. and when they had more than one that they wanted to watch, chances are the other would be able to narrow it down based on which one's they'd heard of.
just knowing that they were going to watch no. 6 made him feel excited. he'd read reviews on it that said it was great and interesting, he'd seen some art for it that looked really nice, and the summary had made him want to find out more about the world in which the story was set. he'd actually stayed away from any spoilers this time, too, because he wanted to learn about things alongside the characters. it wouldn't be any fun if he knew what was going to happen beforehand.
"yeah, okay." he'd have been fine watching anything, really, but he was definitely glad that jun found no. 6 interesting enough to want to watch it with him. he pushed three pieces of candy her way, each from different piles, and dropped the rest into three separate bags. that took care of all of his candy bagging. all of the smaller bags were dropped into the larger bag and the larger bag was pushed to the side of the coffee table.
kazunari stretched his arms up over his head and leaned back against the couch. he always found it more comfortable sitting like this, rather than sitting on the actual couch. probably because he used to sit like this a lot when the four of them would all sit around together and watch tv. or when his brothers (one wasn't actually a brother but he may as well have been) would play games and he'd just watch. he'd always lean against the couch between the two of them. and, come to think of it, he'd always fall asleep his his head falling to rest against one of their knees. guess that just went to show how comfortable he always was around them.
there were plenty of photos around the house that showed him sleeping on one of the older boys, cuddled up to them like they were some kind of stuffed animal or pillow. it was a little embarrassing. even more so because some of the snapshots looked a little suspect. 'i'm really not trying to seduce them or anything...' but it wasn't just him. his sister had a tendency to fall asleep clutching onto their brother in much the same way that he clutched on to the other boy. that didn't really change the fact that the pictures were embarrassing.
"is there anything you want to watch? we could alternate between episodes of each one or something?"
