if i was your VAMPIRE
He could feel his throat constricting, feel the near crippling pain with every spasm his stomach unleashed upon his weak body. His vision would flash from seeing nothing but red as starvation nearly drove him to his breaking point or his vision would tunnel as he nearly collapsed. Aquamarine eyes flashed red once more as he made his way towards their secret meeting spot. He'd promised, promised he'd meet him here in that exact spot where they'd first met. He soft pained grunt escaped his lips and even though he didn't need to breath he panted softly. his pale skin soaked with cold sweat, making his silver locks stick to his face.
He kept telling himself he was almost there, kept telling himself that soon he'd get to see the one person who made this hell called living worth it. He was supposed to be his enemy but all he knew was that when he smiled, the world seemed a little more brighter. He could forget that there was a war going on and that they might be forced to kill each other one day. He shook that thought from his head and let out a low animalistic growl. Sharp canines lengthening into fangs as anger and hunger rushed through him. he was the prince, heir to the the vampire clan and yet he wanted nothing more than to be with the one he'd come to love. he wondered if he knew the extent of his feelings...if he felt the same for him...felt the same level of feelings as him. It was like a physical ache where his heart should be at the thought that he might not love him to the same extent.
His fist landed into a wall, a few pieces crumbling from the impact but the skin on his knuckles broke, letting a little blood trickle between his fingers instead of healing. He couldn't heal, he could barely stand let alone look straight. His body was too weak and his mind was on the verge of breaking and shutting down completely. He'd been starving himself, refusing to drink like he should have been. His kind were disgusted by the fact vampires drank blood...so wasn't natural that he'd think so to? That's why he'd stopped feeding, he didn't want him to be disgusted. he hated how much more of a monster he seemed. Hated that in order for him to live another had to die...well okay that was a little dramatic but it was the same thought process.
He shuddered as for a moment he swayed where he stood. For a second, one blissful second reason left him and a primal need to feed over came him. It was that shock that jolted his reasoning again just in time to see him turning a corner. he stood up straighter, not wanting him to see him leaning against the wall. he hated seeming weak, after all he was such a worry wart. he let a smirk curl his lips, letting a little fang flash playfully as for a moment his Aquamarine eyes flashed red again.

Sora felt a surge of giddy excitement from the message left by Riku earlier, telling him to meet him at their special spot. The day had dragged on excruciatingly slow, the brunette had to sit in on an incredibly boring pack meeting where they discussed strategic battle plans for their next attack on the Ichihara clan. No one seemed to notice the distant look in his eyes or that whenever a particularly gruesome idea for killing their enemy was shared that he would cringe ever so slightly. He couldn’t help it…he just couldn’t help but to envision these horribly gruesome things happened to Riku and it made his stomach twist into painful knots and his throat would burn from the pure fear that he felt for the other boy’s life. He knew that, no matter what, he would never hurt him but the thought that maybe someone in his pack were to find him and tear his to pieces…
He shuddered, attempting to replace the thought with a more pleasant one—like seeing the silver haired vampire later that night. His lips twitched into a small smile, which of course hadn’t gone unnoticed by his father, the pack leader, who misinterpreted it as Sora getting into what they were talking about. Sora honestly did not understand why their pack and Riku’s clan had to be at odds with each other, what had started this whole feud in the first place? It had started so long ago so why was it expected of them to continue it? Well, he knew why the elders wanted to exterminate the vampires—because they harmed the villagers and killed innocent people to sustain themselves. It was disgusting, he would admit, but…they didn’t exactly ask for that type of life (or lack thereof), they were created that way and it was pure instinct and the want for survival.
That wasn’t to say that he condoned the murder of innocent humans, he personally felt rather protective over the villagers despite the fact that they chased him and his pack away with torches and pitchforks every chance they got. They just didn’t understand that his pack was there to protect them rather than do them any harm…
It took forever, it seemed, for them to adjourn their meeting and once it was done and over with Sora felt his nausea ebb away slowly but surely. Those old geezers sure are morbid…
The brunette couldn’t wait to get away from the pack and took the first chance he had to sneak away to meet the other boy as they had planned. His footsteps were quiet as he darted along the forest floor. Werewolves were naturally lithe and agile, their feet all but gliding across the forest floor, their speed and silent movements were what made them deadly adversaries. He slowed his speed down as he neared his destination, his lips pulling into an excited smile as he rounded the corner, ocean blue eyes landing on the familiar head of silver locks.
“Hey, long time no see.” He lazily shuffled forward, slight pink tinging his cheeks from a mixture of running the whole way there and the bite of the autumn air.

His heightened senses were working in overtime, the usual instinct for a vampire when a werewolf was anywhere near them. However, instead of the usual desire to attack before being attacked there was just the wish to drown in everything that was Sora. There was the sharp acrid scent of dog but overpowering that was something that was purely Sora. Riku had jokingly called it ‘sunshine’ but he’d been honest about it. The brunette was the closet Riku would ever get to seeing the sun and there was a small ache in his chest. He’d never gotten to feel the sun on his skin, never get to see the sunrise or bask in all its glory. He felt both envious and pity for the fledgings that had originally been people before they’d been turned. Those people who spoke of the sun and their desire to see it once more. Many times fledgings never lasted because of that, they committed suicide as they were unable to accept their fate. It was why when the wolves attacked their fledgings it drove his kind crazy, fledgings were precious to them. He shook his head, brushing those thoughts from his mind.
With the smell that was purely Sora was also the sound of his beating heart and rushing blood, life blood that made his throat constrict when he tried to swallow. This was dangerous, he shouldn’t be here with him while he was like this. Aquamarine looked on to sky blue, or at least what he guessed the sky would look like. He let out a soft ‘Hey’ chuckling lightly as Sora said ‘long time no see’. He hummed in agreement and took a step forward, aching to reach out for the brunette but not trusting himself at the moment. “Did anyone follow you?” It was his customary greeting whenever they met up, he remembered Sora’s shock the first time he’d been gruff when they met up before understanding. Riku wanted to be sure they weren’t being watched before he let any of his guards down, incase one of Sora’s pack members saw them together. He didn’t want the brunette to get in trouble.
Once he was sure they were alone he relaxed, his body sagging a little so he leaned against the wall behind him. Unconsciously, leaning away from Sora and subconsciously balling his fingers into a tight fist so he could keep control. “I’ve missed you…” His words were just above a whisper, just loud enough for only him and Sora to hear. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes, baring his neck unconsciously for Sora. It was a true sign of trust considering the neck was both of their kind’s weak points. I was worried…The last attack…Elila described someone like you going down. I thought…”
He let his words trail off, Sora would know of what he meant. Elila was his father’s sire and one of the most deadly vampires in his clan. He let out a soft puff of air as he opened his eyes and looked at the brunette again, his aquamarine gaze searching Sora as though to confirm for himself that he was truly okay. Feeling a little more in control he took a few more steps closer to the brunette and smiled, fangs receding slightly but not totally as he tugged on a lock of Sora’s brown hair with the hand that wasn’t bleeding. Satisfying himself with the fact the Sora was fine and he was here with him. “How are you?” It was a strangely normal question but Riku needed something….normal to ground himself at the moment.

The brunette rolled his eyes, his lips twitching ever so slightly, when the silver haired vampire asked his usual question of whether he had been followed. Sora shook his head and took a step closer, “What do you think I am; a pup who doesn’t know how to cover his own tracks?” He laughed, “I would never put you in danger, trust me. If I thought someone was tailing me I’d just pretend that I was going somewhere else, no worries.” He shrugged nonchalantly. Neither of the two young men had any intention of leading their respective clan/pack members to the other and whenever they met up it was in secrecy after every precaution was taken to ensure that no one knew where they were heading off to. But out of the two of them Riku was always a tad more wary than he was, Sora held a lot more optimism than the older boy did, that was for sure.
Running a hand through his head of messily sculpted spikes, Sora watched with an amused smile as the vampire visibly relaxed. Sometimes Riku could be so on edge sometimes, and it was just really nice to see him feel comfortable, even if only for a few moments. He sometimes wished that his pack and the other boy’s clan could get along as well as the two of them did—life would’ve been so much easier if that was the case. But unfortunately here they were, two unlikely friends who had to meet in secrecy under the cloak of darkness. Though in retrospect, he really didn’t mind all the sneaking around, it was such an exciting feeling to do something he wasn’t supposed to especially since he was considered to be such a lapdog in the packs’ eyes—he always did as he was told and never barked back.
He bit his lip, his heart hammering against his chest, “I missed you too.” And it was true, not a day went by in between their meetings that he didn’t think about the silver haired vampire. It wasn’t fair that they couldn’t see each other every day but they both had responsibilities within their own families that kept them from being able to sneak away too often—they were the heirs to their clans after all.
“You know me, I wouldn’t go down that easily. And plus…I’m sure if something had happened to me my pack probably would’ve been barking at your doorstep,” He laughed at his own lame little joke before continuing, “Do you really think they’d let you guys take down the prince of wolves without much of a fight?” Maybe they really weren’t meant to be together, Sora figured that if one of them were to die, as horrible of a thought as it was, the other would most likely get caught in the cross-fire and follow shortly after. He shook his head vigorously to clear away the morbid thoughts, Sora didn’t like to think about death and fighting, especially not Riku’s or his own death. He preferred simpler things in life, like running through the woods, eating lots of delicious foods, and spending his spare time with Riku…those were the things he loved, not fighting or talking about war.
As Riku sauntered towards him he felt his heartbeat racing once more, and his cheeks flooded with color that he was certain the other boy would notice. When the older boy tugged on his hair Sora subconsciously leaned closer to him. He could feel the icy cold of Riku’s skin zapping all of the warmth from his own body, but the difference in their body temperatures didn’t bother him one bit. He didn’t admit it very often but these moments between the two of them were some of his most favorite memories…
“I’m alright.” He decided not to tell Riku about the wolf that he’d mentioned earlier that his clan had taken out, or how that boy had been a good friend of his because he didn’t really want to ruin the moment in any way, “Riku—you’re bleeding! Are you okay? What happened?” He grabbed the older boy’s hand and brought it up to his face to inspect the cut, a worried frown tugging at the corners of his lips, “Why isn’t it healing…?”

Riku chuckled softly at Sora’s words, a thrill jolting down his spine when the brunette werewolf took a step closer to him. They were barely apart and it made it hard to focus. He hummed thoughtful, taking on a mock thoughtful expression before he said, I don’t know, sometimes you make me wonder if you’re still a puppy.” He was teasing, baiting the brunette into a retort that would set them on their usual path of banter. It was one of the few things he enjoyed about their relationship. The vampire winced slightly at that word. He still remembered when they both admitted their feelings for each other but since then it hadn’t really been addressed. Sure they were intimate once in a while but when the person you love was supposed to be your mortal enemy how did you deal with it?
“I missed you too.”
Those words sent a thrill through him and a grin graced his features for a moment. He could hear Sora’s heart pick up pace and as much as it was a distraction it was clarification that he did something to the smaller male. It meant that he wasn’t the only one affected by their closeness and secret meetings. On top of it, to hear that the brunette had missed him as well was something that made him insanely happy. The more vampiric part of his mind cringed at how much of a sap he was becoming and for a wolf. He’d always hated werewolves, they’d taken his mother and little brother when he was a boy and since then he’d been set on hating them…until Sora. He still remembered the day or rather night, the boy had saved his life when he’d been lying on the ground staked. To this day he still didn’t know what had been running through the brunette’s head.
At Sora’s little joke Riku grinned but there was something completely feral about it, it was more him baring his fangs than an actual grin. His eyes flashed dangerously but as he spoke his voice was calm, matter-of-fact even. “I would have killed him.” Riku didn’t know how but he would have killed his father’s sire if it had been true and Sora was dead. He would have killed him and then he would have let them kill him because without Sora there was no point. Without Sora, he would become something ugly and depraved and the last thing he wanted was to tarnish everything they’d been working towards.
Riku smirked when he heard Sora’s heart racing as he approached, smelling the blood that rushed to his cheeks creating a lovely rose color. He very nearly lost it but he felt his sharp nails cut into the palm of his already bleeding hand and it brought him back. His smirk only grew when the boy leaned closer when he tugged at his hair, the warmth Sora radiated was intoxicating and he vaguely wondered if this is what it would be like to lay in the sun. If it was, no wonder their fledglings went through such a depressed time. Without thinking he leaned his forehead against the brunette’s basking in his warmth and letting the tension run out of him but keeping a tight hold on the hunger that pulsed achingly through his whole body. His lips quirked up into a genuine smile as he said thoughtfully, “You’re my own personal sun.” He opened his eyes and looked into aqua blue, glancing at his lips before he pulled away reluctantly. There was nothing he wanted to do more than pull the brunette closer and just lose himself. However, a particularly painful spasm of hunger reminded him just how much of a bad idea that was.
A small smiled played on his lips when Sora relayed that he was fine but he could tell there was something the little brunette wasn’t telling him. Unable to stop himself he let his knuckles brush against Sora’s cheek as he looked at him questioningly, “What is it? What’s-” He winced when the brunette spotted his bleeding hand finally and grabbed it, bringing it up to his face to look at the ruined knuckles and crescent moon marks on his palms where his nails bit in. He tried to brush it off as he took his hand gently back and said, “It’s nothing, I lost my temper and got into a fight with the wall. I obviously lost.” He tried to laugh it off with a little joke, waving towards a wall that obviously had a slight dent in it. Vampires were notorious for their superhuman strength and speed, they felt little to no pain and this was just an example of that.
His heart skipped a beat at Sora’s worried frown and he prayed that he wouldn’t ask –“Why isn’t it healing…?”– He winced as Sora hit the nerve directly. He shifted uncomfortably, fangs elongating only slightly and he closed his eyes when he felt a wave of hunger wash over him. He stayed quiet until he was sure he had himself under control again and his eyes were back to their aquamarine shades before he let a small smile touch his face but it didn’t reach his eyes. “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. But it wasn’t nothing, it was far from nothing. No vampire had ever attempted to starve themselves from blood for two reasons. One, it made them blood crazy which meant they were like just turned fledglings with no sense and just instinct. They’d attack anything and everything just to get the blood they needed. Two, it made them extremely weak and vulnerable to attack. Those two things were a vampire’s worse enemy and so they always made sure to be fed but Riku couldn’t drink without the thought that Sora would be disgusted with him.
He turned and ran a hand through his hair, letting out a harsh breath through his nose before licking his lips. He could feel his instincts scratching at the surface, could feel the red bleeding into his eyes little by little but he tried to push it back. He just needed a little more time with him. He turned and walked back towards Sora, searching his eyes for a moment and letting a pained smile curl his eyes. He wouldn’t last much longer like this, it was too tempting. “This was a bad idea, I shouldn’t have done this. I’m sorry.” he leaned his forehead against Sora’s once more, tempted to lean just a little closed and take what should have rightfully been his. He could feel the cold sweat setting in again. He stole a chaste kiss before stepping back, wincing at the pain his traitorous body put him through. “I need to go before I do something I regret.” he knew he probably wasn’t making any sense but he couldn’t think straight anymore, his mind just barely able to process the fact that the werewolf infront of him was not an enemy or that he wasn’t a food source.

He crossed his arms over his chest indignantly, letting out a huff, “I’m potty-trained, know tons of neat tricks, and I don’t beg at the dinner table—how can you possibly think that I’m on the same level as some immature, inexperienced pup.” Riku was the only one who could get away with calling him a pup and it not bothering him. He was often still considered just that within his pack, and it really grated his nerves when he’d walk by another of his packmates and catch them muttering under their breath—he knew it was because they were jealous that he was born into a position of power, being the only son of the pack leaders, but it still got to him sometimes. But with the vampire it was okay, everything was okay when he was with Riku. It was funny how their relationship worked. They teased each other constantly but that was what lead them into more serious conversations and it was really rather endearing and would leave Sora reeling from their meeting at the end of the night, wishing that he could’ve spent more time with the silverette. But they were only able to enjoy a few short hours every few nights together, which was never enough to satiate his thirst to know more about the other boy.
It was futile to hide how he was feeling from the silver-haired vampire. He tried sometimes, he really did! But he knew that Riku’s heightened vampire senses made him aware of how fast his heart was racing, the blood pumping through his veins, and it wasn’t fair! If Sora wanted to hide his pink tinted cheeks with the shadows of the dark forest then he should be able to! But of course, mister hot shot over there was able to detect every beat of the wolf’s hammering heart—the other boy really had such a profound effect on him.
His soft, pink lips twitched into a small frown when he noticed the dark, almost savage, look that came over Riku after he had spoken. There wasn’t a time where he was ever actually afraid of the other boy, Sora wasn’t stupid and knew exactly what vampires could do to a wolf—he’d seen it first hand—but he had naïvely trusted Riku from the very beginning, even before he had even gotten to know him (though looking back he was really glad that he had because they wouldn’t have been standing here together today if he hadn’t). “Don’t say that. It’s just the way of the world—we kill bloodsuckers and you guys kill us in return. You wouldn’t really take him down because of lil’ ol’ me, would you?” The brunette tilted his head curiously, shooting the older boy an incredulous, almost disbelieving look. While that was incredibly flattering that he’d avenge his death…the thought of Riku killing anyone, whether for him or not, greatly upset the brunette. He wasn’t a huge fan on violence and death and he especially didn’t want his fanged angel of the night ripping anyone to shreds…
At Riku’s words he felt his cheeks heating up once again and he couldn’t help it, his lips curved into a pleased smile. Werewolves naturally had higher body temperatures than most living creatures so the difference in temperature between the two of them was almost comical how much they contrasted. But Sora really didn’t mind it, they offset each other rather nicely and he wouldn’t mind curling his body around the other boy and just drifting off into peaceful slumber. He’d often lay in bed at night wondering what it would be like if Riku had been there with him, “You’re more like the arctic,” Sora grinned a cute lop-sided grin, “lucky for you, I like the cold.”
A shiver ran through him as Riku’s knuckles gently brushed across his skin, goosebumps prickled at his exposed arms and Sora momentarily closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of the other boy’s skin against his own, but the feeling didn’t last for very long…
“ It’s nothing, I lost my temper and got into a fight with the wall. I obviously lost.”
He quirked an eyebrow, letting the older boy that he was thoroughly unconvinced by his story and urged him with his eyes to tell him the truth. Bright blues bore into aquamarine and Sora instinctively stiffened when Riku’s fangs became visible to him. “Ri…ku?” He implored, taking a step closer out of concern and fear for the other boy. He told Sora that everything was fine but that was quite obviously a lie.
“Riku what’re you talking about What’s going on? What’s wrong…you know you can tell me. This is a judgment free zone, remember?” He bit his lip, desperate to figure out what was going through the other boy’s mind. He stood there, stone still, as Riku gae him a quick kiss which ordinarily would’ve sent him soaring but something felt different about this kiss..it almost seemed like a kiss goodbye. He felt his heart drop into the pit of his stomach and the firm grip of panic latched onto him. Before the silverette could leave or do anything else Sora’s arm shot out, fingers curling tightly around the vampire’s wrist.
“Stop. Riku what have you done to yourself…?” He demanded, his voice filled with so much emotion that it cracked towards the end. The thought of Riku walking out of his life, whether forever or even just temporarily sent him into a frenzied panic and he was determined to keep the vampire there with him for as long as he possibly could.

if i was your VAMPIRE
Riku chuckled as Sora listed away things that didn’t make him a puppy. Grinning lopsidedly, he tilted his head slightly before he spoke again, “That just means you’re a very good trained puppy. Besides…pups are cute.” Humor shined in his eyes as he playfully flicked Sora’s nose at the end of his sentence, insinuating that the boy was cute with his words. Riku loved these moments, moments when he and Sora weren’t in vampire/werewolf mode and they could honestly just be themselves. Sometimes he felt like telling the smaller brunette to come with him that they’d leave this all behind them but…they both had a strong sense of duty. Still he still wished he could ask him and that he’d say yes.
Sometimes he forgot how little Sora actually knew of his feelings. He was so used to hating werewolves and keeping his emotions on a constant lock down that sometimes he didn’t express them right. So it hurt that Sora didn’t actually believe that he would go and kill his Elder if anything had happened to him. For a minute he fought with his pride before he cradled Sora’s face gently between his hands, mindful of his slightly long nails. “Sora…Sora you don’t understand. You changed me…for the better. I was so set on killing all lycans that I didn’t care who I hurt. But since you came into my life I don’t want that. I don’t want to kill anymore but…if something were to happen to you. If you were to…I don’t think I could keep going. I’d be worse…I’d-” He stopped there, choking on his words a little. He wanted to tell Sora just how much he cared. Just how far he’d go for the brunette but fear stopped him from admitting anything. He wanted to tell the brunette that he would go to the depths of hell for him, that he’d die for him but he kept that to himself. Only then realizing just how intense his feelings were but then when he’d felt nothing but coldness and hate for years could he be blamed?
Riku grinned when he smelled the rush of blood to the brunette’s cheeks. He loved the way his cheeks always turned a rosy color when he said something that made the smaller male blush. It was honestly simply adorable. At the brunette’s admittance to liking how cold his skin was, Riku couldn’t resist laying his chin against the smaller male’s shoulder and wrapping his arms around his waist. He let out a soft sigh, loving the warmth Sora naturally radiated, his nose just barely skimming the bare part of the brunette’s neck as he smirked playfully. “You might get frostbite if you play with the cold for too long.” He nipped playfully at Sora’s neck before pulling away, grinning teasingly. He pulled away completely when he felt his throat constrict a little more, reminding him of the dangers. It was so easy to forget when it came to the brunette, so easy to relax and let his guards down. It was dangerous.
He kept his gaze away from Sora’s but he could still feel the younger male’s eyes burning a hole into his head as he looked at Riku questioningly after his whimsical explanation for the bleeding hand. He could feel his control waning the longer he stayed by the brunette’s side and he hated it. Hated how weak his control was, how weak he was. It was disgusting. When he heard the tone Sora said his name in it was like he’d been smacked, he immediately flinched and took a step away from the young man, allowing himself to calm before moving back towards him trying to get him to understand even when he didn’t make sense. He gave the smaller male a pained smile, nearly clinging to him at his words as he tried to understand. “I can’t…I just…I can’t Sora. I don’t want…I don’t want you to think…” he shook his head violently as he refused to continued. He’d been unable to hold himself back and had let himself have a chaste kiss, unsure of whether or not he’d survive the rest of the night in his condition. It was very likely he’d never see Sora again.
He lost it. For a split second he’d slipped, unprepared for the sudden feel of Sora’s fingers tightening around his wrist and his demanding tone as he was about to walk away. He hadn’t been prepared and it cost him a moment of letting his vampiric self slip free from his tight hold. Within seconds he launched himself at the brunette, going to pin his hands and body to the ground with a feral snarl as teeth went in to sink into his flesh. However, the familiar smell that was only Sora snapped him out of it. For a moment he sat on top of Sora, frozen in shock at the position he found himself in, entirely confused at what just happened. However, after that moment past he threw himself away from the brunette. He curled up into a ball, a dry sob leaving his lips for a moment as he repeatedly murmured he was sorry before looking at Sora imploringly. “You have to leave. You have to get away from me now. I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep ahold and I don’t want to…” He choked, letting out another dry sob as he shook his head. He’d attacked him, he’d attacked Sora. He was a monster.
