If she had done that, she would be in the halls of the Holmes Dormitory right now. Why? Because she wasn't too big on the pastel swirls that littered the walls of this building. The Van Ess Dormitory. So why was she here? Because this was the dorm that her twin sister was staying in. Adelaide had gotten bored with just sitting in her room. Sure, she had video games and music and books and cards. Still, she found herself somewhat bored with those things every once in a while and when that happened she typically went for a walk. This time would be no different. She turned off her PS3 and put away the controller. Though it wasn't something she normally did, she pulled her hair back into a high ponytail. Then, like she always did before leaving her room, she got ready. First, she put her earrings back in. Two small silver hoops in each earlobe, a normal silver cuff on the side of each ear, and a silver cuff with small wing-like extensions at the top of each ear. Adelaide brushed any potato chip crumbs from her loose black pants and pulled her black hoodie on over her orange tee-shirt. She clipped on her silver chains (a necklace, a bracelet on each wrist, and an anklet on each ankle) before pulling on her black boots. After tying the laces, she stood up and grabbed her black and orange messenger bag. She never went anywhere without that. Now she just needed to decide on where to go. She thought about heading to the library, but it was nearing nightfall and she didn't want to be out too late. Maybe just a quick walk outside of the dorm in the fresh air? That was usually enough to set her mind clear. Plus she'd still be close to the dorm and she wouldn't get distracted by any books. She turned on her IPod and put on her headphone (leaving one ear uncovered, just in case), dropping the device into her bag before pulling open her dorm and stepping out into the hall. She let the door close behind her with a small 'click' She just stood there for a moment before looking down the hall and taking a step. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 400 .Tag: Texia. .Place: Van Ess Dorm .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: Off we go...

Texia had thought hard about what dorm to enter. Alright, so maybe not that hard, but she considered her options. It was obvious that Van Ess would be best. The Holmes Building was way too crowded for her tastes. If she had to be around so many people, well, she wouldn't be able to stand it. Sure, she was trying to practice talking, a few people already becoming her 'tests' so to speak. But she wasn't looking for sociallizing 24/7. Besides, the dorms were only for sleeping, and Texia preferred quiet when she slept, not students screaming.
The down side to the dorm was the choice of painting. She didn't mind the colors, she actually enjoyed pastel, but the swirls were making her dizzy. Why couldn't they just be plain walls, like at her home? It was so bad, that Texia considered closing her eyes and feeling the walls for doors, looking for her room. But there was a chance of her falling or someone opening a door and her stumbling in, and neither of these outcomes appealed to her at all. So, she decided to just bare it all.
Texia was just entering the building. Her room was room 106, the first floor thankfully. She caught a glance of the walls, and her eyes started to blink rapidly. It was like it was impossible to focus with them there. She took a step forward, although it looked more like she was stumbling forward. Her steps continued, and she felt herself gain control over them
Just when she felt confident enough to walk straight, she heard a door open. Unable to control herself, Texia walked right into whoever came out of the door. She stumbled backwards a bit before falling onto the floor. She shook her head, then looked up at the person before her.
"I'm terribly sorry for walking into you. It's just these walls, they make me dizzy and I guess I couldn't stop myself. You're not hurt or anything, are you?" she asked. Texia's main reason for asking her parents to come here was to make friends. And she was sure that walking into them was not a god way to meet someone.

What a nice way to meet someone. It certainly wasn't the typical encounter. Then again, she had met people under similar circumstances before. Not often, mind you, and only once because she was the one doing the 'running into'. She shook her head softly, to clear her mind and to show that she was fine. She, after all, wasn't the one that had fallen to the floor. "It's okay, I'm fine." She held out her hand to help the girl up, "Are you alright?" She wondered, though she probably wouldn't ask, whether the girl lived in this dorm and, if so, in which room. Still, as mentioned, she probably wouldn't ask. She wasn't the social type. Not only that, though. She didn't really care all to much where the girl lived. After all, she herself lived in a single room and, therefore, wouldn't have a roommate. Not unless she asked to be moved to a double room and she really didn't plan to do that. She was perfectly happy having a room all to herself. It meant that she could lock her door and get away from absolutely everyone. Until she got a little too bored and needed to take a walk. Like now. Of course, as it was currently, she wasn't actually taking a walk. Not yet at least. But she did still plan to take that walk when this encounter was over with. She wouldn't be able to go back to her room and continue playing her games until she walked around in the fresh open air. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 300 .Tag: Texia. .Place: Van Ess Dorm .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: I'm so sorry. Texia was confused. Why was this girl holding out her hand? Was it for a handshake? Or maybe a careless gesture? But it looked intentionally for her... After a few moments of debating, she took the girl's hand as a handshake, so she shook it and introduced herself. That was what always followed a handshake right?
"Hi, my name is Texia Shigura. It's nice to meet you. And I'm quite alright, it's just the walls make me dizzy. I guess I'm just not used to all the swirls, I'm more accustomed to plain things. My room should close by though, I think." At this, she tried to stretch her head around to see the door numbers. Her dorm room was supposedly number 106. It shouldn't be that far away, right?
Letting go of the girl's hand, Texia got herself up, dusted her clothes off a bit, and glanced at the current room number. 105. 105?! Her room was right next to this girl's! The shock was evident on her face, as she made no move to hide it. What an odd coincidence, did things like this happen often? Being herself, she voiced these thoughts aloud. Texia walked past the girl to stand in front of her own door and said,
"My room's right here. What a strange coincidence. Wouldn't you say?" She turned towards the girl for a reply.
(THIS IS SUCH A SHORT POST I'M SORRY! The online thing wasn't a big deal so it's okay.)

That wasn't originally what she had planned to do but things didn't always go quite as planned. So, she settled with just the handshake. And, after the girl finished introducing herself, she followed suit. That was the proper thing to do, after all. "My name is Adelaide Rae. It's a pleasure to meet you." It was the same generic introduction that she gave to everyone but it worked. It included the basics. A name for others to call her and the pleasantries that are supposed to go along with meeting someone knew. She had a generic sort of greeting for when she met people again as well. That was probably because she was quiet and didn't much enjoy talking. Anyway, she always gave the same introduction to everyone. Unless she was required to add something else to it for some reason of another. Like with class introductions for instance. This situation also called for her to add on to what she had already said, though it wasn't really part of the actual introduction. "That's good. I'm sure you'll get used to the paint. I'm not a big fan of it myself."In all honesty, she sort of hated it. She wasn't a big fan of the pastel colors that covered every wall but that would have been livable had it not been for the swirls. She had fixed the swirl pastel problem in her room, or rather, she was working on fixing it. She wasn't sure what color to use just yet. For the walls. And the ceiling if she felt like doing that as well. Currently, the ceiling was an off white so she could live without changing that. Once the girl, Texia, let go of her hand Nyx moved both hands into her hoodies front pocket. She was about to ask what room the girl would be in when said girl's face showed shock at something. Her door number perhaps? Did that mean Texia would be a close neighbor perhaps? It didn't matter either way, to be honest. Sure, it was good to know her neighbors and all that but she didn't plan on socializing all that much with them. As it turned out, the girl would indeed be her neighbor. A very close neighbor actually. Right next door to her. That did seem pretty strange. Not that the girl's dorm was right next to hers but that they had run into one another (quite literally). Well, it was a coincidence at least. Not necessarily a strange one. She really wasn't quite sure what to say in response but she figured something was better than nothing. "Yeah. A coincidence for sure." Adelaide didn't feel that that was quite enough though, so she added, "We'll probably see a lot of each other." And still she felt something else play upon her tongue, "What are you majoring?" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wordcount: 500 .Tag: Texia. .Place: Van Ess Dorm .Lyrics: Adelaide by Anberlin .Notes: I'm sooo sorry for taking so long. >>

So apparently, this girl's name was Adelaide Rae. A very pretty name in Texia's opinion. And they were neighbors as well. That would mean she at least had someone she knew in this building. Also, Adelaide seemed very nice, so she wouldn't have to worry about enemies, at least not for now.
Turning toward her dorm room door, her mind suddenly flew back to her purpose in her dorm. She needed to drop her things off quick! Hurrying to find her key, she unlocked the door, and didn't even take a look around. Flinging her school supplies onto her bed, she was out in the hallway in a flash. She'd caught the girl talking, but she hadn't answered in her hurry to drop her things off. Why was she in such a hurry? Well, Texia's mind flashed back to a little while before she made her way to the building.
Texia was walking around aimlessly. There wasn't much for her to do out of class, seeing as she was a first year and didn't know many people.Well, actually, she knew quite a few, but she had no idea where to start to find one of them, and it would be very awkward for her if she just randomly walked up to one of them with no real reason whatsoever.
Somehow, she'd ended up near the courtyard, lost in her thoughts. And she seemed to be just in time to watch a girl climb up a tree. Curious, she looked up, and saw several other people there as well. Confused, Texia decided to climb up there and ask herself. However, first, she didn't know how to climb a tree. Second, even if one of them helped her, she still had all of her school supplies. So, she made the quick decision to run to her dorm, drop her stuff off, and investigate.
Back in the present, Texia closed the door to her room. She turned to Adelaide and an idea formed in her head. She should come investigate too! Adelaide would have to be curious if she was explained the situation, right?
Grabbing Adelaide's wrist, Texia suddenly dragged her out of the building, talking as she went.
"For your questions earlier, yes, we probably will be seeing quite a lot of each other. Also, I happen to be an art major." As she was running, Texia figured that Adelaide would most likely wonder where they were going. So, she explained as well.
"Before I got to the dorms, I saw some people climbing up a tree, and more people in it. So, I ran to put my supplies away and bumped into you! Now, we're going to investigate together, Kay!?"
(You can either respond or end it here and go right to the tree thread. I'm going to post in the tree thread when I get a reply next.)

One minute, the two of them were conversing and the next, Texia was inside of her room next door. Because the conversation had, seemingly, ended, she started walking towards the double doors that would lead out of the Van Ess dorm. She only got a few steps before she heard the other girl come back out into the hall, locking her door behind her. All of a sudden, her wrist was grasped in the other girls hand and she was tugged towards the double doors and then out of the building completely. Her surprise showed on her face up until they were outside, then the look was replaced by a slightly confused one. She wasn't quite sure what was going on. And so she decided to voice that confusion, "Wha-" Cut off by answers to her previous remarks and question, she looked over at Texia with a look that said something along the lines of: 'Okay, but why am I being dragged around.' Instead of voicing something like that, though, she replied to the answers she was given. "I'm an Art Minor. So we'll have classes together I'm sure." Addie might have added on a question, like where she was being taken, but the girl told her before she got the chance to ask. Apparently, they were heading to a tree that people were climbing that the girl was curious about. Why she'd be curious about something like that was unknown and, though she was allowing herself to be pulled along, Adelaide didn't feel any real need to investigate the tree or the people in it. All she had wanted was to take a walk. A quick walk, to be honest. Still, she didn't want to just tell the girl that she didn't want to go. She was too nice to do something like that when she, herself, had nothing else to be attending to. All she had been planning to do was go back to her room and play her video games. Looked like that wouldn't be happening though. But she didn't really want to go to the courtyard. She didn't like crowds and it sounded like there might have been a situation there were a crowd might have gathered. Making up her mind, he dug the heels of her tennis shoes into the ground and tugged her arm, hoping to stop Texia for a moment or two. When they had stopped and were standing there, Addie tugged her hand again, gentler now though, before saying, "I'm sorry, Texia." After a few seconds pause, she went on to explain herself a bit. "I'm just not good with too many people so I'm going to take a walk somewhere else. I hope you don't mind." And she sort of hoped the girl wouldn't dislike her for it or anything like that, as well. If all went as she sort of hoped that it would, she'd head back towards the dorm. Not to go back to her room, though, at least not for long. She planned to change clothes and grab a few things before heading toward the soccer field, to be honest. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - .Wordcount: 550.Tag: Texia..Place: Outside Van Ess Dorm.Notes: ...
