Those are the words that came to mind when he looked up at the Art Building. He'd spend a lot of his time in that building once the classes really started. He was a Music Major, after all. Unless that changed somewhere down the road. He'd be taking both chorus and band in this building. Then there would be extracurricular things, he was sure. He get acquainted with this building pretty thoroughly.
Three large sculptures found the buildings lawn as their resting place. Of the three pieces of art, he liked the dancing couple the most. Maybe because it symbolized togetherness. And closeness. He liked the abstract piece too though. It symbolized uniqueness and individuality. Neither of which he really had. Not that he minded.
He actually liked being so much like his brother. It was fun to confuse people. Not only that, he loved his brother. He'd rather be confused for his brother than not. It showed just how alike the two where. And it kept things from getting boring when someone confused the two all the time.
Kaito stepped into the Art Building. The walls were covered from floor to ceiling with various rat pieces and the place smelled like coffee and acrylic. He actually sort of liked the smell. It was refreshing to him somehow.
He sighed as he walked around, looking for a good place to relax while he waited for his brother to finish up whatever he had been finishing up in their dorm room. He'd probably run into a classmate or too as well, since this floor was where the music classes were held. He'd have to attend class shortly. Until then, though, he found an empty practice room to lounge around in.
The door was left open when he entered, looking around the mostly barren room. The thing that caught his eye wasn't the plush couch, as one might expect since he was looking to kick back, but the piano that sat in the middle of the room. He had grown up learning to play the piano. And he was pretty good at it. Or course, he normally played along with his brother.
All the same, he sat himself at the instrument and stretched. Resting his fingers upon the keys, he thought about what he wanted to play. When he couldn't decide on a particular piece, he simply started to play whatever random tune popped into his head.
Anyone wandering around outside in the halls was bound to hear the sound that emitted from the piano as he played. But he didn't mind. He was too absorbed in the music he was creating to care if anyone heard him. That's what happened when he played, he lost touch with reality. Even if the music didn't sound quite the same without his brother playing along next to him, it was a beautiful noise. He absolutely loved the music of a piano.

Zeran casually strolled past the sculpture's that rested in front of the Anderson building, not giving them much thought. Sculpture wasn't really his thing, so he didn't stop and try to appreciate their beauty. Zeran just continued towards the front door.
Zeran approached the door, opened it, stepped inside, and was hit with a blast of the oddly refreshing smell of acrylic and coffee. Zeran started walking down his normal route, but something caught him by the ear, as if an imaginary fish hook had pierced the flesh and cartilage and was reeling him in. The lovely sound of the piano reached his ears, and Zeran couldn't help but approach.
Zeran loved the piano, that was the best way to put it. He had been playing it from a young age, solely by ear, but nonetheless playing it. He still hadn't learned to read sheet music, which wasn't the best call for band, but he hoped he would pick up on it quickly.
Zeran opened the door to the occupied practice room, carefully and quietly, gingerly stepped in as if he was walking on rice paper that he didn't want to tear, and closed the door without a sound, then just stood and listened to the wonderful music, almost in a sort of euphoria.
When Kaito was finished playing, Zeran snapped back to reality. "You're good." Zeran said, his eyes scanning up and down the piano. "As a fellow pianist, I applaud you."

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] So absorbed into the music that he was creating, he didn't notice anyone coming into the room and shutting the door. He felt a presence, but he was too focused to care about it. What had originally been random tunes that just popped into his head had turned into an actual piece. A famous piece. Though, he wasn't really sure why it was that particular piece that he started to play...
Before too long, he wrapped up what would have turned out to be a very long performance. A lot of pieces were like that, long. But they sounded so magnificent that the length didn't bother the people that were there to listen. Anyone that it did bother wasn't a true fan of the art so they didn't matter.
And what did he hear when he finished up the piece? Someone telling him that he was good. That was certainly a nice thing to hear after finishing up something that he enjoyed so much. Practicing the piano since an early age did mean that he was well versed with the instrument. If he wasn't good, that meant he wasn't a very talented musician.
Kaito turned to look at the white haired teenage that had entered the room a minute or two ago. A leather jacket with a light blue dress shirt and khakis. What probably caught his eye most were the boys yellow eyes. They were different, not quite the normal color you'd see in someones eyes. Not that his eye color was exactly 'typical' either but he shared it with his brother and his mother.
"Thanks," he chimed, a grin slipping onto his lips and his eyes shining. "Franz Liszt's Piano Sonata in B minor. Well, the last part at least."
He stood up and turned to face the stranger fully, grin never leaving his face. It was just to bad his brother was there, they could have had a bit of fun. But that would have to wait for another time or another day, as he was quite alone at present and he couldn't very well confuse someone if he was alone. Not unless the person he was confusing already knew him and/or his brother. And that didn't seem to be the case. Otherwise his (or his brother's) name might have been said as well.

Zeran nodded a little as Kaito stated what piece he had been playing. "It was a concert worthy performance. Did you memorize the music or learn it by ear? I play completely by ear, I honestly can't read a bar of music, which should make things a good learning experience since I'm in band." Zeran said. He made his way over to the piano bench and sat down after Kaito stood up, laying his fingers down on the keys. Zeran's fingers started gliding across the keys in the bittersweet legato tune of Utakata Hanabi. "I've always liked how almost any type of music could be transitioned to the piano." Zeran said, his fingers not skipping a beat as he spoke. Zeran's song didn't last as Kaito's, 6 minutes long. When Zeran had finished he stood up. "Well, my name's Zeran, Zeran Heartt. I'm assuming you're taking some music course here who are you?" Zeran asked, standing up once again. Zeran, though he didn't show it on his face, honestly liked Kaito from the few minutes of their meeting. He definitely was a pleasant person to be around, and was outgoing and friendly. [atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Learning to play music like the piece he had finished up with just before hadn't been an easy task when he was younger. Like all things, as time went by it got easier. Though it still wasn't easy by any means. The question he was asked made him think about the first time he had sat down at a piano.
Initially, he had been made to study the sheet music in order to learn what he was supposed to learn. But, as everyone soon found out, the twins both learned more quickly when they listened to the music and followed along in the music book. Sort of like how learning to read was easier if you were looking at the words while someone read them to you. Or, at least, that's how they had learned to read so easily.
Now, if he set his mind to it, he could memorize the music of a piece he had never heard. Still, he found it much easier to listen and then look over the notes. Just listening to a piece was enough sometimes. The piano was something that just came naturally to him. "I can learn either way. But 'by ear' is the easiest for me." And his brother but that was a given since his brother wasn't quite a studious as he was. Even when it cam to something they both enjoyed so much.
"I wouldn't call my performance concert worthy but I'm certainly glad you enjoyed it." Modesty. Something that always slipped into his words in situations like this. Maybe it had something to do with his recent 'charming' attitude as well. Nah, he had always been pretty modest.
He stepped out of the way as the other teenager moved towards the piano. And he listened quietly as the boy played something. He even got a little bit lost in the music, despite not being the one playing. He put his hands in his sleeveless white hoodies big front pocket, eyes closing for a few seconds as he tried to place the tune.
It was only after his classmate finished playing that he responded to the guys comment, as well as his introduction. "It is nice how just about everything can be played on a piano." A short pause. "I'm Kaito Matsumoto. And yeah, I actually take chorus and band. Among other classes of course. It's nice to meet you Zeran Heartt."

"I envy being able to read music, I'd like to have the notes a few times when I've got a difficult piece to work with." Zeran said, scratching the back of his head a little. "And don't be so critical of yourself, it was a great performance?" He liked how some people were amazed by him quickly picking up a tune and playing it after one hearing, but not all music was that simple.
"Pleased to meet you too, Kaito." Zeran said. "I'm in band too, so I guess we'll be seeing each other around. Kind of nice to be making a new friend, someone who plays the same instrument no less. It's nice to have someone to relate too."
Zeran tried to think of a new subject to move onto. "So, do you particularly like Lizst, or did you just feel like playing his Piano Sonata in B Minor for no apparent reason?" Zeran asked. "I'm rather fond of Mozart when it comes to classical. Wolfgang, not Leopold. I just like how his music compared to other compositions of the era, and I like how he innovated in spite of adversity and deep-rooted musical tradition, of course, I just liked how they sounded when I first heard his music."

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Reading music wasn't something he considered to be very special or anything like that. There were a lot of people out there that couldn't read music and could play just fine. And it involved much more talent to play something completely by ear. You had to hear each individual note, otherwise you couldn't play it back quite right. "You play really well for someone who learns solely by ear." He shrugged his shoulders, "Most of the time, I have to have the music to look at. Until I've learned it anyway."
Even after he learned to play a particular piece, he sometimes needed to look at the music. Usually, when he practiced or something, he just played whatever came to mind. Like before, when he had played a few random tunes and then finished up with Lizst's piece. Even now he wasn't sure what the other bits he had played were. Not that he needed to know that or anything. They had probably just been nursery rhyme tunes or something.
"We probably will see quite a bit of each other then." He paused for a second, looking over at the door that lead out to the hallway. 'Hiro sure is taking a long time...' He was starting to feel that loneliness creep in. The loneliness that came from not having his twin by his side. They were always together, up until recently. They were trying to expand their world now and to do that they needed to be apart now and then. Still, he couldn't help but feel a bit ill-at-ease. He certainly hoped Hiro was doing alright. Of the two, his older brother was the one who found it hardest to accept change.
Looking back at the white headed teen he added, "Say, can you play any duets? Or do you only play solo piano?" It'd be good to get some practice in, in regards to piano duets at least. That's why he had come to this building in the first place, to practice. Of course, until his brother arrived he'd have to practice whatever solo piece came to mind. Unless, of course, his new acquaintance knew a duet or two. He didn't really expect the boy to know any though. People didn't usually learn that sort of piece.
The subject then moved on to why he had chosen to play a piece from Lizst. He really wasn't quite sure, to be honest. It wasn't like he favored Lizst or anything. "I guess I'd have to say there was no real reason behind it." He chuckled a little and scratched the back of his head with his left hand, the right still tucked away in his pocket. "If I had to choose a favorite, I'd have to say Ludwig Van Beethoven. Simply because his pieces were the first we had to learn. Solo wise. Uh, me and my brother I mean."

"Really? Playing by ear has always just come to me naturally. I never really got the hang of sheet music though."Zeran said, not really trying to brag. "Guess we all have our differences though."
"Sorry, I don't. I've never really had anyone to play duets with. I'd like to learn if I had someone to play with though. It might actually require me to learn sheet music." Zeran said. "Well, I'm good at playing improvisations on themes, so I guess I could try picking up on a tune and making an accompaniment to it."
Zeran looked interestedly at Kaito when he brought up his brother. "I wouldn't know much about having a brother. I have a twin sister, we have our differences, but we get along pretty well. I guess it'd be nice having a brother, a few less differences maybe, I guess." Zeran said, not really sure. He thought his sister would probably say the same thing on the subject of her brother, though instead comparing it to the situation of having a sister. "Well, I guess you probably play duets with your brother usually, don't you?" Zeran asked, though it seemed somewhat obvious to him.

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Kaito sort of wished that he could play solely by ear. Well, he could play by ear alone once in a while when the music wasn't to difficult but that was the extent of that ability within himself. He still needed to look the music over after listening to it most of the time. It could have been worse though. He could have been limited to memorizing the notes in order to play something. That's how many musicians were. If they couldn't memorize the notes, they couldn't play the piece. Considering how little he and his brother liked to study the music, it would have been quite horrible if that had been the only way for them to play.
How sad that would have been.
At least they, the people who were lucky enough that they could play by ear alone, could always play the piece that they wanted. All they had to do was hear it and they could play it right back. Well, he wasn't sure if his new acquaintance could play something back after only one listen. Still, the point was still somewhat valid. "We may be different from each other but I'm not one-of-a-kind like you." He couldn't help but grin. No, he wasn't one-of-a-kind at all.
The response his was given in reference to piano duets really didn't come as a surprise. He had actually sort of expected the answer he was given. It's not like people tended to take the time to learn a duet. Most didn't have any reason to. Not like he did.
And really. What was keeping his brother? It didn't take that long to shower and walk from their dorm to the Anderson building. So where was he? Surly he hadn't gone and gotten himself lost. Or maybe he had run into someone. But that still didn't quite explain what was taking his twin so long.
"I know of a pretty easy one if you're interested in learning it. Don't have the sheet music with me but it's a popular four-hand piece." One of the only four-hand pieces he heard other people play, actually. It made him wonder why people didn't often play four-hand piano duets. "It's 'Heart and Soul' by Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser." He moved to sit back down at the piano and he began to play. Of course, having only two hands he only played the left side of the piece (right side if you were the piano or were looking at him from the other side of the piano). "This is the part I normally do but I could play the other part for you. Unless you'd rather play this part? Or maybe you would rather not play either?"
Maybe he was getting a bit ahead of himself. He just wanted to practice though, really. It didn't matter what piece, so long as it was something. And what better way to practice than to help someone else learn something new? He shook his head upon finishing up the bit he had been playing. He really did like the piece, as simple as it was. Or maybe it was just simple to him because he had learned it such a long time ago? It was sort of difficult to tell.
"So you have a twin sister? I bet that's fun. I only have my brother but I really can't complain." No, he couldn't complain at all. His brother was everything to him and he was everything to his brother. For now anyway. That would change, slowly, as the two expanded their little world. Still, he doubted it would ever change too much. His brother wasn't really one for change and he didn't mind things staying as they were. He was as interested in girls as his brother. He didn't care as much about a relationship or anything like that. So far, he hadn't come across anyone that had interested him at all, really. "And as far as differences go, we don't have very many."
Kaito nodded his head, a somewhat fond look about his face. Remembering when they had first learned the piece he had just played a part of. Remembering the other pieces they had played. "That's right. My brother and I play together all the time. I've never actually played a duet with anyone else before." Not that he had ever had someone else to play with in the first place. Such was the life that he led. The life of being one-of-a-pair. Two-of-a-kind. Half-of-a-whole.

"Identical twins, I'm guessing?" Zeran asked as Kaito commented on individuality. "You'd be surprised, people still mistake us for each other from behind. We both style our hair in the same way, and from behind, people tend not to see . . . anything that would tell them the person's gender."
Zeran clapped his hands as Kaito mentioned the title. "We're set, I know the tune, so that should be easy enough for me." Zeran said, sitting down next to Kaito at the bench. "I'm glad you chose a common tune, and not something I've never even heard of. I'll play the part, you're not, I should be able to figure it out between the tune and what you're playing."
Zeran found it nice to be meeting a friend, he hoped to meet Kaito's twin brother soon, and that they were at least somewhat different so that he could tell them apart if need be. "Well, yeah, having a twin sister is nice. I've wondered what having a brother would be like when she gets on my nerves some time, but I don't think that's too uncommon." Zeran said after getting a feel for the tune from Kaito's playing.

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Had he really given that much away? It must have been the part about not having many differences. Coupled with the fact that he had said it after commenting on the twin brother and sister topic. Yeah, that was probably it. Not that it mattered one way of the other. Better the guy found out now rather than later. Though, it might have been a bit funny if he'd bumped into the twins later instead. Oh well, it was too late for that now. And there was still the confusion of which one was which, when the twins bumped into Zeran together that is.
"Identical in every way, actually." Well, that wasn't the whole truth, now was it? They were physically identical in every way, except that they parted their hair differently. The didn't always dress exactly the same either. It was only their personalities that told on them though, and it didn't do that very often. Their personalities sort of blended together a bit when they were together. Most of the time.
A male and a female being mistaken for one another, even if only from behind, was a bit different than his and his brothers' situation. He and his brother enjoyed, sometimes, being mistaken for each other. It showed whether or not the 'outsider' was paying close attention and/or knew them well. He couldn't imagine it'd be very much fun to be mistaken for a girl though. "Why doesn't she grow out her hair like most girl do then?"
The piece they were playing wasn't a very long one. Which was a shame, really, because it was sounding pretty good. He really had chosen a good piece to practice, it seemed. Since his classmate had, indeed, heard the music before and could play along pretty easily. "You're doing pretty good. I bet it'd be pretty easy for you to learn more like this one. Probably even the harder ones."
Kaito grinned over at Zeran. It would certainly be interesting, having a class with this not-so-stranger. Someone, other than his brother, that he had something in common with. And not just 'something' in common either. It was something he loved more than just about anything. Playing the piano. Who knows. Perhaps they'd make good friends?
He looped the song when it came to an end the first time and then, when they met it's end again, he let the last notes carry just a bit before pulling his hands away from the piano and resting them in his lap. Then he replied to his acquaintance.
"My brother never really get's on my nerves." He tapped his chin with his left index finger. "And I've never thought about having anyone but the brother I have now." Another short pause so that he could run his fingers over a few keys. "But that's probably because he's my brother. Rather than a sister."

"Huh, every way?" Zeran asked. He thought there were probably slight differences and overall that the phrase was hyperbole, but he got the point and didn't over think it. "Well, that would be . . . interesting. Me and my sister occasionally get mistaken for each other, but we have very different personalities . . . and voices." Zeran said. "I'm not quite sure why she doesn't grow out her hair, but she kind of idolizes me, which makes me a little nervous, I know I'm not perfect, but in her eyes . . ." Zeran trailed off and sighed. He kind of liked being admired by Erazia, but at the same time it was a little harrowing, and he felt like he could shatter the illusion any moment with one of his many flaws.
Zeran shook this feeling off, and instead changed his mind towards Kaito's praise. "Really? I'd be willing to give some more a shot when you're brother isn't available." Zeran said, giving his new friend a brief smile, then laughed a little when he mentioend his brother didn't get on his nerves. "Well, Eraz can be a little . . . naive. Quite naive actually, she still believe in the stork, I try not to get upset with her though. The stork part is a little bit like walking on rice paper at times, I'm bit- okay a major perv when it boils down to things, and I'd rather not be the one to have to explain to her where . . . babies . . . actually . . . come from." Zeran said.

Erazia was wandering around campus. She wasn't planning on going anywhere specific, just walking around. Yet, when she heard the piano, she immediately headed to the Anderson building. It must be Zeran! she thought, excited to see her brother. He was an amazing and truly gifted pianist, in her opinion at least. One of her favorite activities was just sitting and listening to him play. She hadn't seen him around, so maybe it shouldn't be such a surprise to find him here.
When she was faced with the cylinder shaped building, she immediately rushed inside. The playing had stopped, but she was fairly certain it was Zeran who was playing. Of course, there was the possibility of it not being him and one of the many other students as well, but the thought didn't come to her mind. In her mind, piano equaled Zeran. And Zeran equaled her amazing brother.
Almost running down the hallway, she ignored the acrylic and coffee mixed scent and found the practice room where she assumed the playing had come from. Opening the door, she heard her brother talking.
"-not be the one to have to explain to her where . . . babies . . . actually . . . come from." Confused, Erazia entered the room.
"Zeran? What do you mean? The stork delivers the babies, you even told me so yourself! Were you lying to me?" she asked. The topic had come up once or twice, and she'd never gotten a straight answer. She couldn't believe her brother would ever lie to her, or, more like her brother wouldn't lie to her! She couldn't imagine a reason for him to. He was too nice for that.
(OOC: Hope you don't mind Eraz joining in...)

Not many people would, after all. While he and his brother were physically identical in every way (including height and weight which usually differs even between twins) their personalities weren't quite the same. Not if you talked to them separately and they weren't trying to act like the other. If the wanted too, they could pull off each others personality perfectly. It came with being so close for so long.
But their voices, were they different? He wasn't quite sure. To him, he and his older twin sounded the same. That could have just been because he was so used to hearing both voices that they melded together, he wasn't quite sure. Someone else would have to tell him for sure. "As far as I know, my brother and I sound the same too. Otherwise people wouldn't get us confused like they do." Or so he figured. "And our personalities are a bit different but not too much."
The younger auburn-headed teenager had always sort of looked up to his brother. He wasn't one-hundred percent sure why though. And it wasn't quite the same as idolizing someone but it wasn't all too different either. "Maybe it's just because you're her brother." He didn't think his brother was perfect, by any means, but that's because he and his brother completed each other. He made up for a lot of his brothers short-comings and his brother did the same for him. That's not to say that the two of them were 'perfect' when they were together or anything like that.
Despite making up for each others short-comings they were still quite far from perfect. He knew that anyway. He wasn't quite sure his brother would think the same.
While he listened to what the white-headed boy said next, he tapped at the piano. He only pressed random keys, nothing fancy and nothing that created any real tune. He grinned over at his new (dare he actually say it?) friend, "It'd be nice to have someone other than my brother to play with once in a while. I'll have to get the sheet music for a few pieces for you. Maybe I can help you learn to read them."
When it came to the topic of naivety, he didn't know anyone that he'd really peg as being naive. Well, not anyone above the age of, say, ten. To be perfectly honest, he didn't know many people at all, regardless of how old they were. That was another thing that came along with having a twin brother, with living in a world of their own.
"The stork..." He let the word trail off. He hadn't heard the whole 'the stork delivers the babies' thing. Things had never been hidden from them in such a way. He did get the general idea of the whole thing as Zeran continued though and before he could make a comment about the boys perverseness someone new entered the practice room. The auburn-headed, topaz-eyed teen leaned back so that he could look around Zeran and towards the door.
Standing there he saw a girl that he figured must have been the twin sister Zeran had spoke of. And she had stumbled in during his last comment. Well, wasn't that nice?
It looked like someone had a bit of explaining to do.

Zeran's eyes widened as his sister entered the room. Now if there was ever rotten timing, this was it. He quickly tried to think of an answer, something that would protect his sister, yet would still work. "I . . . I was wrong about it being a stork. I watched one time, and it was a pelican, not a stork. A Pelican brought the baby and people had been mistaking it for a stork all this time." Zeran said, eyes wide and heart pounding. He hoped the ruse would work. The honor of who got to give Eraz the talk would be their father, for sure.
"Oh, um, how rude of me. Kaito, this is Eraz . . ." Zeran said, calling Erazia by the nickname he had for her. "Eraz, this is Kaito. Kaito play's piano too, we were just figuring out a duet or two together." Zeran also hoped that quickly changing the subject would help, and that Kaito wouldn't try ruin the whole situation. He also hoped that Kaito wouldn't find it funny and burst out laughing, though that at least would be easier to cover up than Kaito telling about where babies really came from. Zeran started thinking of cover up options for various situations.
