$40.00? That didn't seem too bad. Texia wordlessly got out her wallet. She counted out the correct amount of money, and gave it to Uen.
"Here you go," she said. As she did, her mind lingered to the last end of the employee's statement. That answer was certainly easy.
"All fish! Any type of them are absolutely wonderful! Even the poisonous ones, since they are just defending themselves from enemies. When I was at home, the only thing in my studies that was really interesting were the fish. They look cute, and blow little bubbles. And I love bubbles. My tutor seemed to like them too, since he always looked happier when I came to his sessions about sea life. Too bad my parents didn't approve of me having pets," Texia explained. It really was quite odd, her tutor usually seemed grumpy and upset when he taught her, but when she started to have fun with the fish, he looked happier. Or maybe relieved. Was it a relief to teach about fish? She would never know, it seems. That tutor was an odd man. Then again, it may just be her opinion.
"What about Uen, do you like all fish?" she asked. "Or do you prefer certain types?"
(OOC: THIS. IS. SO. FREAKING. SHORT. I'm sorry.)

Uen really was pretty amazed at how modern day technology had made keeping exotic fish possible; the amount of captive fish enrichment had increased a significant amount just in the past year. New things were always coming out, making life for domestic exotic fish so much more like life for the fish in their natural habitat. She could certainly appreciate such advances in technology that allowed everyone to enjoy the stunning beautiful of things from things so peculiar as Spanish Dancers - an ocean fish - and even crustaceans. To be honest, Uen was most fascinated with ocean fish. There were such beautiful creatures in that deep, cold world of salt and Uen took any chance she could to see them.
Her attention was brought back to the pet store when Texia reached up to her, money in hand. Uen took the money with a grateful dip of her head, and she murmured a hasty but earnest, "Thank you for your business," as Texia replied to Uen's previous question in a voice that sounded so airy and light, almost romantic, even, at the thought of all the beautiful fish there were in the world. There was even a wistful tone in her voice, as though she wished that she could see all the unique fish that there were to see - and Uen couldn't blame her. Texia explained that she was a lover of all fish - small, monstrous, poisonous, peculiar, everything - and that she didn't care whether they were friendly or not because they were all just trying to defend their homes. At this, Uen smiled. She could be an absolute horror to deal with when it came to defending something she loved. Texia continued on, saying that her favorite studies at home had been about fish. She even said she loved bubbles.
Uen wondered if her boss would be mad at her for sitting around talking to a customer for so long; Uen didn't want to get into trouble, but at the same time this Texia girl had really caught her interest and made her want to stick around to talk about fish. Well, Uen had done some business with the girl, and it was her job to make sure that all the customers were satisfied, so she was justified in sticking around. When her friend mentioned that her parents disapproved of her having pets, Uen had to fight the urge to scoff or give Texia a judgmental snort or glower. What kind of idiot parents wouldn't let their kid have a pet? Pets were, like, a milestone in a child's life. They taught responsibility and shit like that! They - what would Calvin's dad from Calvin and Hobbes say? - build character! Uen merely shook her head, but listened intently as Texia continued to speak, and then it went quiet for a moment. Uen looked at Texia as she suddenly said her name and asked her favorite type of fish.
Uen thought about it quickly, and then she replied with a pleasant smile, "To be honest, I do prefer ocean fish. They come from such a delicate environment; were the ocean to ever change, for hot or for cold, it would change their entire ecosystem and possibly wipe out an entire species of fish. I mean, even their environment is alive, what with all the coral, barnacles, muscle shells, kelp, seaweed, anemone, etcetera. And the fish in the ocean are so exotic and unique and beautiful! The deep sea fish get even more interesting; they have to adapt to the dark, cold, high-pressure depths of the sea. There are the tube worms and the angler fish and the giant squid and..." She paused and took a giant breath, an embarrassed grin spreading over her face. "I love all fish dearly. They're absolutely marvelous creatures. But I would never ask for anything ever again if I owned my own ocean-life aquarium." | [atrb=style, width: 100px; vertical-align: center;]

Texia listened to Uen reply.
"Ocean fish really are magnificent. Exotic and colorful and so diverse. If you ever get around to getting that aquarium, invite me over, would you please?" It fascinated her that Uen knew so much about he ocean, and even made her own theories. The way she spoke made Texia feel sure she could count on her for fish information or really anything fish related. And, somehow, she felt comfortable sharing information with Uen. Everyone else she'd known could never be like this, not even her own brother. The wonders of having a friend felt so new and exciting, and Texia loved it. Friends were really amazing people.
Her thoughts drifting back to her brother, she pondered whether to inform Uen of him, as she'd neglected to do earlier. She decided she should. He was family after all. Maybe not as warm and loving as most, he was still family.
"I have a brother you know. I don't think I've told you. He's my twin, actually, named Minato. Perhaps you'll meet him or at least hear about him soon. He tends to stick out." Now that they were self proclaimed friends (by Texia's mind at least), she felt it was necessary to reveal information about her brother, who'd followed her here soon after she applied. He didn't seem to like her very much, and always picked on her when he did happen to spot her. But she'd go into detail with this if Uen inquired further on the topic. Meanwhile, Texia awaited paitently for Uen to respond.

U E N ϟ M I G O T O ; [atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=border,0,true][cs=2][atrb=style, background: #5DFC0A; width: 485px, bTable][atrb=style,-moz-border-radius: 15px; border-radius: 15px;,true] | [atrb=style, padding: 5px; background: #FFFFFF; border: 2px dashed #308014; -webkit-border-radius: 10px 10px 10px 10px; -moz-border-radius: 8px; opacity: 0.6]Uen nodded in agreement instantly after Texia's first reaction to Uen's opinion; ocean fish were beyond magnificent. They were stunning, and they were amazing, and they were beautiful beyond comparison. Texia's next words brought even more pleasure to the Third Year as she listed off even more adjectives that could be used to describe the majesty that was ocean fish: colorful, exotic, and especially diverse. Even fish that were the same species and the same gender could be found to be entirely different, whether it be in color or texture, or even in attitude. Fish had such unique and special personalities; Uen's fish, who she'd so brilliantly called Fishy, was a total boss - the king of the tank. He was a big, handsome plecostomus (an algae eating fish), and he didn't let any fish in the tank do anything without his say so. It was really amusing how they all kind of shifted to the other side of the tank whenever he moved. But that wasn't the point; Uen returned her attention to her new friend and customer, a grin on her tan face.
"No problemo! I'll even give you a VIP pass so you can come in whenever you want to. I'm happy to find another fish enthusiast like myself, so naturally I'd never bar you from my amazing aquarium." She laughed sweetly, though there was nothing really to laugh about. Maybe it was just the thought of owning an aquarium that made Uen chuckle. Migoto's Aquarium - home of epicsauce! The grin did not leave her face as the thoughts of all the possibilities continued to flow. Imagine all the fun she could have if she owned her own aquarium! For real! She could swim with her dolphins and personally feed her sharks - how cool would that be? - and screech with the whales. But why was she thinking on such a large scale? Imagine all the hours she could spend staring into a massive wall of all different breeds of jellyfish! Their little pulsing, squishy bodies, their streaming tentacles behind them - the thin or the plume-like - with the lights shining off their gelatinous bodies... but again, that wasn't the point.
Texia felt it necessary, apparently, to inform Uen of her brother, a twin brother, even, going by the name of Minato. Because they were twins, did that mean that Minato was a First Year, as well? How adorable! Well, perhaps Uen would meet him. Texia seemed to think so as she stated that her brother tended to stand out. Uen laughed and replied, "I know how it is to stand out. I'm like that." A slightly sheepish grin spread over her face. "To be honest, I'm quite different around the school grounds than I am here at work - well, when my other friends are around anyways. I'm just a relaxed kind of person. Anyways, I think it'd be interesting to meet your brother sometime. Maybe you could introduce us sometime." Uen looked around again, checking that none of the managers were spying. She looked back at Texia. "I'm an only child, myself. And really, I wouldn't like to have a brother or sister. I wouldn't want someone who could potentially one-up me; I'm an admitted sore loser." | [atrb=style, width: 100px; vertical-align: center;]

NOT GONNA GET US Starting from here, let's make a promise you and me, let's just be honest we're gonna run, nothing can stop us even the night that falls all around us
words: 563 - tagged: Uen - notes: OMG I am SO sorry this took, like, a MONTH to get out. At least it's not that short.
Texia's mouth formed an instant "O". Uen's aquarium? A VIP pass!? That would be so cool! Aquariums were the best places ever invented in her opinion. However, she'd never been to one before... All of her experience with them was from pictures and books. Her parents would have never allowed her to go somewhere like that, and it was effectively a part of her "Top Ten Places to Visit" to-do list. once she got out of college, or maybe even sooner than that, like around a vacation, she'd definitely go and find an aquarium. She'd have to invite Uen too. Marvelling about her plan, she excitedly shard it with said blonde as she finished.
"That's so cool! I'd love to go to your aquarium! A VIP pass sounds so great! I haven't actually been to an aquarium before, but I'm planning to sometime. I was thinking around a vacation during the semester. I'll invite you to come with me too!" Texia was starting to get psyched. Fish were just so much fun! She couldn't wait to take a trip to an aquarium, whether it be Uen's or some other one. However, it would have be on a vacation, and their first one wasn't for at least another few months. The school year was just beginning after all.
Texia started to feel a little down. She was so eager and excited to go see some fish, ocean fish, the exotic kind, at an aquarium. But the time she could seemed so far away. It didn't help that she had no experiences to look back on or share with Uen. Her spirits, however, were lifted a few minutes into her thoughts. The older girl had started to go into her behavior in school a bit, about how she stuck out and how she was a relaxed sort of person. Texia couldn't exactly say she reacted much differently in school as she did anywhere else, but that could be just her. Then, Uen shared her opinion about having a sibling, how she wouldn't like to have someone who could "one-up" her, and that she was a sore loser. Texia let out a small laugh.
"Oh, well, even if you do stand out, I'm sure it's nothing bad. I don't see you as anything bad, at least. Although, I've never seen you out of work, so perhaps I'm not the best source. Also, I don't really mind having Minato around. He actually avoids me the best he can. I haven't even seen him on campus, only in class. That being said, I'm actually not too sure what "one-upping" someone is, but I don't mind losing again my brother. I already know I'm no good at sports, and he's great at them. On second thought, I guess i do beat him in academics, however." She smiled a bit awkwardly at saying she wasn't sure what "one-upping" someone was. She'd never heard the term, and hopefully Uen didn't think badly of her because if it. If she decided to tell her what the term actually meant, it would mean Texia had one more thing learned about the world. And that was always a good thing.
