Akii yawned tiredly, massaging her temple with her free hand—the one that wasn’t holding the paintbrush dipped in blue paint, steadily brushing strokes of blue and swirling it to create the waves of the ocean on the canvas. She’d been hit with a sudden bout of inspiration earlier and just had to get out of her room, grabbing her acrylics and a blank canvas.
It was nice, feeling the cool post-storm breeze caressing her cheeks, ruffling through her long silver locks, and cooling her off. It had stormed pretty badly the night before, rain coming down in sheets, booming thunder, and bright flashes of lightning illuminating her small dorm room. A small ghost of a smile graced her lips at the remembrance; she’d sat by the window for an hour and a half just watching the storm raging outside. The silverette found thunderstorms to be strangely soothing and highly inspirational, whenever it stormed it usually left her with some great story idea or gave her the urge to paint or sketch. It was a creative stimulus.
Currently, Akii was leaning against an oak tree in the school courtyards, her messenger bag lying in the moist grass beside her with various tubes of acrylic paint scattered around her. She was trapped in her own world, hardly even noticing the world around her—all that she saw was the sandy shores and crystalline waters of her fictional beach.
“Hm, maybe I should take a break and go get some lunch.” She mused quietly, glancing down at the LCD screen of her cellphone, her eyes widening a fraction, “er…make that dinner. [/color]” How bizarre, she hadn’t even realized that she’d been out this late—she’d been painting for the past 3 and a half hours. Fortunately she had pretty much finished her painting, she just needed to put the canvas somewhere so that the paint could dry and then once that happened she’d hang it on her wall, adding it to the collection of various other paintings that she’d done over the past year and a half. [[Bahh, I'm awful at starting threads x.x! xD]] [/blockquote][/size][/color]

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Something like this didn't happen very often. Actually, this was probably only the third or so time this had happened in all of eighteen years. Not including the last time that something similar to this had happened. That hadn't been quite the same. That had been more of a mutual separation. This? This wasn't quite so mutual. And what was this, you ask? Let me explain.
Kaito had managed to exit the dorm room that he shared with his brother, without his brother following along next to him. He had only wanted some fresh air and he hadn't wanted to bother Hiro any. His twin, after all, was playing the PS3 and, therefore, Kaito decided to tell him to just keep playing. There was no need for his doppelganger to come along. He didn't plan to take very long anyway.
With his headphones covering his ears and his IPod in his pocket, he headed down the hall and out of the Holmes Dormitory. He had no real destination in mind as he started walking and before he knew it he had wondered all the way to the academy courtyards. It hadn't taken him very long. A few songs perhaps. Or maybe he had gotten lost in the music. He couldn't be completely sure.
Kaito could see something in the grass next to one of the trees so he made his way in that direction. Why? Because he didn't have anything better to do right now. After all, he wasn't quite ready to head back to his room. Not just yet. He could hear a few mumbles as he got closer and, for a moment, he saw the light of what he guessed was a cell phone. Even more reason to check that spot out.
As he moved around the tree, he spotted the painting first. If he sniffed at the air he could catch a light whiff of the acrylic paint that was used to create the little beach. He didn't paint, himself, but the Anderson Building, where he spent quite a bit of time, smelled like the paints so he knew the smell. He did like drawing and such, but painting just wasn't his thing. Besides, he doubted he'd be able to paint as well as the silver headed girl even if he'd tried.
"You're really good. I wish I could paint like that." There came his 'social-butterfly' sort of attitude. And a 'social-butterfly' he was. He loved talking to people and making friends, no matter where he was or what he was doing. The fact that he had come across a pretty girl didn't really play a part in it. It was his brother that liked meeting pretty girls and such. Speaking of his brother, it was probably good that he hadn't come along. After all, if Hiro had been there they'd be pulling a prank right about now.

Akii let out an airy breath, leaning back against the tree she was sitting under and closing her eyes, just enjoying the moment of quiet and tranquility. She was a little surprised that there weren’t that many people roaming around campus, especially after the storm that kept everyone trapped inside their dorms the night before. Or maybe no one was outside because they were all at the Commons having dinner.
She ran her cramped hand over her face, massaging her temple and [unknowingly] smudging streaks of blue paint on her cheeks. Luckily, she had pulled her hair back before she’d begun painting in order to avoid getting herself all messy and sticky with paint. Akii had made the mistake once before of not tying her hair back before painting—it had taken 4 showers to get the purple out of her light hair and that wasn’t an experience that she cared to repeat anytime soon.
Dropping her hand away from her face Akii decided that maybe she should start packing up her belongings and tail it out of there before it started to get dark. Her fingers inched their way towards her messenger bag but stopped halfway when she heard a voice coming from beside her, startling her. She jumped, her head whipping to the side where he was standing and she had to tilt her head back just to see his face. His hair was a shock of orange, not very common—but it was interesting and certainly suited his appearance.
“Oh, uh….thanks?” A small frown tugged at the corners of her lips, trying to determine whether his compliment was an honest one or if he was one of those boys who said things like that but didn’t mean it, instead using nice words to hurt the object of their so-called compliment. You could say Akii was a little paranoid in that department, maybe it was because she didn’t have very much experience when it came to boys—or talking to them. Or maybe it was because she wasn’t really used to talking to people in general unless it was absolutely necessary, like in class or something like that.
“I’m sure you could pick it up, with a little practice and all. [/color]” She managed a small polite smile, attempting to hide the semi-suspicious stare that she had been giving him. [/blockquote][/size][/color]

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Taking a step back, as he was much closer than he had originally thought and was probably invading the girls personal space a little, he reached up and scratched the back of his head. A chuckle slipped past his lips, "I didn't mean to startle you." Perhaps sneaking up on her hadn't been the best thing, not that he had been trying to sneak up on her or anything. He certainly hadn't been trying to sneak around or anything. It must have been all the years of sneaking around with his brother that made him so quite as he walked about.
Kaito looked the girl over again, his eyes landing upon her face and sticking there. He felt the urge to chuckle at the smudges on her face but he kept them quite, though there may have still been a little twinkle of laughter in his eyes. Hopefully she wouldn't take that the wrong way though.
The girl was quite pretty, he thought, though his brother might have chosen other words to describe her. Himself, being less-girl-crazy and more-level-headed than his twin, often chose more tame words to describe people when he was by himself. After all, he thought some of the other descriptive words were overrated. And he had read somewhere that some women preferred words like 'pretty' or 'beautiful' over other terms. Well, it had said something like that.
As he was studying her face, he noticed the little frown that tugged at her lips as she spoke to him. Did she not believe him? Or was she just the sort that was generally unhappy with company? Either way, he wasn't going anywhere just yet and he hadn't been lying to her. It really was a nice beach. And he really couldn't paint like that. But there was really no way to make her believe him if she didn't. It's not like he had told her he had some rare candy that he could pull from his pocket (which he didn't actually have anyway, mind you).
The semi-suspicious sort of look (which he still couldn't decided the meaning of) was soon covered up (mostly) by a small polite smile. If he hadn't of noticed the suspicious-ness beforehand, he'd probably over-look it altogether now. He couldn't really blame her for it though. There were a lot of people out there that lied about all sorts of things or tried to get close to people for perverse reasons.
"Nah, I don't think I'd be anywhere near as good as you. My talents don't really lie in that area of the art world." As much as he liked to draw, he wasn't that great at it. He could look at a picture and draw it pretty well but he wasn't one of those people who could draw something from memory. Well, not very well at least. Still, art as a whole was something that interested him. Probably because music could be considered art and he loved the piano.
The auburn headed teenager smiled and offered his hand (not forgetting about the paint that was probably on the girls hand, just not caring about it any), bowing just a little and being as much of a 'suave gentleman' as he could be. After all, being a gentleman alone wasn't enough for a future host. Right? That's right. He had to be suave. "My name's Kaito Matsumoto. It's a pleasure to meet you."

”I didn’t mean to startle you.”
Well maybe he wasn’t as bad as she had unintentionally made him out to be, she needed to keep in mind that not everyone was out to get her—she was far too paranoid sometimes. Her golden eyes found his and she was a little surprised to find that his eyes were a similar color to her’s—not exactly a common color. Though, finding herself unable to keep eye contact for very long, she glanced away. It wasn’t his presence that made her act that way, she had never felt very comfortable to keeping eye contact with someone. Maybe it was because she was naturally a submissive person. She’d read somewhere that animals couldn’t look you in the eye for long if they were submissive and you have displayed your dominance—like with an alpha wolf staring at his subordinates. Maybe that could also be said for humans as well? That was probably really weird to think about and Akii was glad that he couldn’t read her mind—he’d probably laugh at the strange train of thought that she’d found her mind wandering to.
Her suspicions began to wane just a bit, she needed to stop being so mistrusting of strangers—though the childhood phrase of ‘stranger danger!’ suddenly came to mind—but he didn’t look like the type who would drag poor unsuspecting children [or girls] to a dark alley and have his nasty way with them. He looked like the mischievous type, but not the creepy rapist type. She shook her head to clear away the unwanted thoughts, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips at the outrageous thoughts that were bouncing around her head.
The silverette returned her attention to the boy beside her, still not fully looking him in the eye, but at least she was looking at him. She had to admit that he was attractive, but she wasn’t the type of girl who would just throw herself at a boy that she found cute and she wasn’t very flirtatious in general. She didn’t have much experience in that department and often didn’t really know how to react when put in that sort of situation.
“Oh? But you’re implying that you’re into the arts?” She tilted her head to the side in a curious manner, “What sort of art forms are you in to? [/color]” Now her curiosity was piqued. She had completely immersed herself in the arts, dabbling in various art-forms but excelling mostly in painting, writing, and playing the piano. If he was as in to the arts as she was then perhaps he wasn’t so bad… Hesitantly, she moved her paint smudged hand forward, placing it gently in his and shaking it politely, “ It’s nice to meet you too, Kaito.[/color]” She allowed a small smile to grace her lips, “ I’m Akii Kurosawa[/color]” [/blockquote][/size][/color]

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Kaito wasn't shy by any means. When he spoke to others, he looked them in the eye (unless he was pretending to be the submissive younger brother, which he didn't do very often just yet because there wasn't a need for it). He had yet to come across anyone who intimidated him or anything of the like that might cause him to shy away from making eye contact. But that was him.
There was no way to just compare himself to the girl beside him. He didn't know anything about her. Besides, he was an outgoing guy who often pulled pranks on people alongside his brother. He doubted she was anything like him. Perhaps that was why her shyness to meet his gaze didn't really bother him? That didn't make all that much sense to him though.
Maybe it was just the fact that a lot of people acted shy towards people that had never met before. He had certainly seen his share of girls that acted in submissive ways. On the other hand, maybe that wasn't the best way to describe the way the silver-haired girl was acting. Well, on a completely clean and 'G' rated level, submissive actually fit just fine. It all depended on context.
And the context of the current situation was quite the normal sort of everyday thing. Or so he figured.
Kaito's grin kicked up a notch (though it wasn't even close to his full-on grin). It was probably pure luck that had led him to running into someone who enjoyed the arts. He couldn't be sure what she liked, other than painting, but art was art in the end. No matter what form of it you enjoyed you could still talk about it with other people, even if they preferred a different form.
"I doodle and write sometimes but for the most part I'm into music and theatre" He softened himself up a bit, replacing his grin with a normal smile and, overall, taking on a slightly more serious sort of look. He still looked like his regular friendly and playful self, just with a more calm sort of air. "Playing the piano is my favorite though."
After shaking the girl hand, he let his own fall to his side before he folded his arms behind his head. "Akii. That's a pretty name." He wondered, for a second or two at least, if he should ask a few questions. He didn't want to make the girl uncomfortable or anything like that but he did want to talk. He figured redirecting her own question might be a good way to start. He'd continue from there depending on how talkative she seemed.
After all, it wouldn't be very good if he scared her away by talking too much. He kind of wanted to make some friends after all.
"What about you? What other art forms do you like?"

Akii was genuinely interested in hearing what Kaito had to say no, if he was into the arts then he couldn’t have been all that bad, right? Or perhaps she was a little too biased on the subject since she was a creative arts kid and had grown up with a brush or a pen practically glued to her fingers. Her smile widened a fraction when he mentioned that he played piano—that was her favorite instrument! The music that is produced (if the player was talented enough, of course) was so beautiful and soothing—in her opinion, but then again she was a little biased. She could spend hours listening to piano instrumentals on her iPod, or stay locked up in one of the music rooms in Anderson, just playing. It was a great way to help her drift into a nice relaxed state of mind—much like what her painting today had accomplished, putting her at ease.
“You play piano? You any good?” She couldn’t help but to ask, her voice taking on a slightly more lighthearted and playful tone to it.
She happened to glance down at her hands, noticing the dry and cracked acrylic clinging to her fingers. Way to be messy, Ki she mentally scolded herself, pulling her messenger bag closer to her and unzipping the small front pouch, pulling out a travel-sized bottle of hand sanitizer. Popping open the cap, Akii squirted a glob into her hands and rubbed it in—the paint, for the most part, was scrubbed from her fingers but a few light smudged remained. Letting out a small sigh she tossed the hand sanitizer back into her bag, deciding that she’d have to clean up later anyway so it didn’t really matter.
The silverette felt somewhat bad that she wasn’t the best conversationalist; he’d probably get bored and wander off after realizing this. A light tinge of pink dusted over her cheeks for a brief moment at hearing the compliment he’d given her on her name and she managed to mumble a ‘thank you’. And then a silence fell over them for a few moments and she couldn’t decide whether or not it was awkward or a companionable silence—or maybe a sort of mix of the two.
A wistful grin tugged at the corners of her lips and it didn’t take her very long to think up a reply to her question, “I paint and write, but my passion is music—namely, playing piano. So I guess we have something in common. [/color]” [/blockquote][/color][/size]

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] For a moment, he wasn't quite sure how to go about answering the girl. He wasn't vain and prideful, not to the extent of promoting himself and his ability to play. On the other hand, he also wasn't quite humble enough to say that he wasn't all that great. In reality, he was quite good at the piano, especially when it came to playing duets with his brother. Still, what was a good middle ground between saying that he wasn't very good and that he was great? Okay, perhaps.
Saying that he was simply 'okay' at playing seemed a little too humble as well, though, really. Hmm, but he couldn't get another word to form fully on his tongue. It was right there, he just couldn't quite grasp it. Well, there wasn't really any point in dwelling on it. After all, she'd be waiting for his answer and he didn't want to make her wait too long. The minute, or however long had passed, was quite long enough.
"I'm... I'm not too bad. But I wouldn't say I'm all that great either." If only he could get that one word out. He let out a frustrated sigh and scratched the back of his head. This would bother him until he finally figured out the word he had been trying to use. Suddenly, he remembered that he had been talking to someone and his face flushed a bit. "Ah, sorry. I was just thinking about something. I wasn't frustrated with you or anything."
When the silverette pulled out a small bottle of sanitizer, he remembered the paint that may have transferred to his own hand. Maybe it had dried up before he had scratched his head. It'd probably be a pain to get it out of his hair if it hadn't dried. And he'd probably get his brother to assist him to make sure it was gone, too. If it was there, that is. Maybe he should dye his hair sometime. To a really weird color or something.
Akii's quiet 'thank you' to his compliment brought him back to the conversation at hand more fully. He gave her one of his sweet sort of grins as he tilted his head a little bit. A silent 'you're welcome' of sorts, maybe. It would really depend on how she interpreted it, not how he had meant it to be seen.
Kaito was glad that she grinned a little and answered his question. Not that he had found the silence awkward or anything, not too much at least. The only reason it was even a little awkward for him was because he didn't really know the girl to well yet. If they weren't still strangers (for the most part) and had known one another a bit longer, the silence probably would have been rather nice. Or not. Guess it would really depend on why there was silence to begin with. Because that would decided whether it was comfortable or not.
"Really? So, are you a music major then? Or maybe art? I'm a music major, myself, with a minor in theatre."

She felt a slight pang of guilt for having been so suspicious of Kaito from the start when he was seemingly a nice guy. Though, of course, they’d only been conversing for a few minutes but he really didn’t seem as bad as some of the other guys she had had run ins with. For one, he didn’t seem overly confident in himself—she hated people who acted all ‘high and mighty’ like that.
Akii nodded her head, her silver pony-tail bobbing with the motion, “Yeah, I’m a music major with a minor in art. I considered double majoring in English as well but I figured that’d be overkill in the work department.”
She’d just have to settle with taking a few English classes here and there, “That, and with my job I don’t think I could handle juggling that and all the English, music and art assignments. [/color]” Her voice was polite and lighthearted, and she realized that she had rambled a little. He more than likely didn’t really care about her little tangent, but if he wanted conversation then she’d [attempt] to give him one, it was only polite, right? The silverette tilted her head and quirked a brow, “ Is this your first year? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around before…[/color]” Though, as stated before, that could’ve just been because she tended to hide in solitude—call her anti-social all you want but she’d rather immerse herself in her work than lose her scholarship and have to transfer to some cheap community college closer to home. Home.A cold shudder ran up her spine and despite the warm weather she felt goosebumps prickle her arms and legs uncomfortably. She’d do whatever she could to stay away from her ‘home’—well, she considered Radiant Gardens and KU to be more of a home to her than her actual one. She blinked once, twice, and lightly shook her head to rid herself of those thoughts, no use dwelling on something as unpleasant as those thoughts. Her golden gaze refocused on Kaito. [atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] Knowing that the girl he had run into was a music major made the campus seem rather small. That, or it made Kingdom University seem like an art school or something. There were quite a few majors one could pick from so running into someone studying the same thing as him didn't seem all that likely. Especially when he had just wondered to the courtyard by chance.
It must have been fate or something. Unless he was just extra lucky tonight. Well, if you wanted to look at it as luck. He figured luck was better than fate, though, since fate seemed a little to strong a word for it. After all, fate was usually associated with love and things that that and, not only was he not interested in any romantic relationships, he didn't feel much other than a little friendliness. A bit tired and hungry too, perhaps, but that was completely unrelated.
"We might have a class or two together then." His grin widened just a little. It'd be pretty neat to know someone other than his brother when they got to a class. Although, that would also mean his brother would want to mess with her and try his best to confuse her. His smile wavered a bit. He always ended up going along with his brother's plans, too, because if he didn't he might lose his closest friend.
And he did enjoy helping his brother out, most of the time, as well. Still, he wasn't sure he wanted to go around trying to confuse everyone her and/or his brother knew. Then again, they normally did that in order to see if anyone could tell them apart. After all, the twins figured that if someone could tell them apart, that person didn't care enough. Hiro had come up with that but he agreed with it.
Kaito shook his head lightly and straightened up his smile, "Were do you work?" He didn't find his own job all that difficult but he was just a cashier at a little cafe. He was also quite the friendly and talkative type which is probably what made his job so easy.
He thought about how quiet she seemed and couldn't really see her working as a cashier and enjoying it the was he did. Not that he particularly liked his job or anything like that but he did enjoy talking to the customers and things like that. It helped that he had someone he was close to working with him, otherwise he probably wouldn't like it as much as he did.
After thinking about that, he had to wonder if maybe he was forcing her to talk to him by asking questions like he was. It was his immediate response after meeting people, asking questions and such in order to get to know them a little bit. He'd have to watch himself with that a bit better from now on.

It was a little strange to think that out of all the people that could’ve wandered over to her it was a fellow music major (especially one who played piano, as well!) who actually did. It was a little coincidental, but it wasn’t exactly an unpleasant coincidence, at least they knew that they had something in common if all else failed.
“It’s possible, the music program here is great…but it’s a little small, compared to the other courses, so I’m sure we’ll end up seeing a lot of each other throughout the year..” Kingdom University was known for cranking out successful (and often big time celebrities—musicians, actors, etc.) but despite that the different Arts programs were a little small. Not just anyone could get into them, you needed to present a portfolio of your past works [for art] and audition [for music], if you weren’t at the top of your game then you wouldn’t get into the programs. Though that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, with the smaller classes it meant that if you needed help for whatever reason you could easily get that help from not only your professors but your peers as well.
They lapsed into a comfortable silence, at least, she thought it was comfortable since she wasn’t used to talking so much especially to someone she had just met. She needed to give her voice a break and it gave her time to think about how the day was turning out, it was strange, she went through most of the week without carrying a real conversation with anyone, only nodding her head and saying a quick ‘hi’ in acknowledgement to classmates that she recognized from the year before. And she had been happy with the simple, polite gestures, not really caring too much for interacting socially with anyone for extended periods of time. But Kaito was making it hard for her to stay locked up inside the protective shell she had been hiding in.
“I work as a Groomer at the pet store in town. [/color]” Akii supplied. She realized that her job choice probably seemed a little out of place given how into the arts she was—but grooming was an art too, she would argue. You had to put a lot of time and effort in to learning not only what the various grooming tools were but also how to use them, what size guard to use on the clippers for the different fur lengths, when to use shears to thin out the fur, how much nail she could clip without hitting the kwik, and of course knowing the different breed-specific cuts—it was all precision. Being a musician and an artist gave her that precision. And she thoroughly enjoyed her job, spending her time with animals, not having to worry about carrying on a conversation—she only needed to talk to the owner in the beginning to ask what they wanted done and in the end when she asked if everything was to their liking. It was a pretty lax job, if you knew what you were doing, that is. [/blockquote][/color][/size]

Maybe they were meant to be friends. It certainly seemed that way to him at the moment. After all, not only were they the same major but the played the same instrument. They also had the same passion for the arts. The had quite a bit in common and they had only been talking for a few minutes.
"Yeah." They'd definitely see each other around, even if they didn't share any classes. They'd probably run into each other quite a bit just because they'd both have classes at the Anderson Building. They might even run into one another in one of the music rooms since they both played the piano. It wouldn't be the first time he'd run into someone in a music room. After all, earlier today he had run into a guy who also played the piano. They had even played together. It seemed the piano was a very popular instrument here at Kingdom University. Probably had something to do with it being such an elegant one.
Despite the usual need to make conversation, the silence that he found himself in was quite comfortable. It must have had something to do with knowing the girl didn't really like to talk much because he'd normal say something whether the quiet was comfortable or not.
By now, and it had only been a few seconds since the talking had stopped, his brother would have exploded and asked another question or said something rude and/or stupid. Not that his brother was stupid or anything, he was actually quite smart. And he wasn't naturally rude, he just acted that way. Or so Kaito believed at least.
Himself, on the other hand, didn't really mind quiet moments like this. Not when in the company of someone who seemed to prefer the silence. He was itching to say something, though, but he kept quest and let the question pass. It wasn't important, anyway. That, and he was trying to be considerate to some extent.
"A groomer, huh? So you like animals then?" He turned a bit so that he could lean against the tree. He didn't mind animals, though he also didn't particularly like them. The truth was, he had never had any pets and, therefore, didn't know much about them. He and his brother had grown up together, without anyone or anything else to keep them company. Sure, they had their parents, but they hadn't played with the twins very much and were often working. Not the he minded the way things had been or the way they had turned out.

It was a little silly, thinking that this chance meeting could have been brought on by an act of God, or fate. Akii didn’t really believe in destiny or fate or whatever the hell it was called, she had learned the hard way that you had to make your own destiny if you wanted a decent life. That was what got her into KU, her hard work. It wasn’t some bizarre act of fate or anything of the sort, it was because she had applied herself. However, getting something good out of life and meeting someone new were two completely different things. But her thoughts on ‘fate’ still applied, it was a coincidence, yes, but not an act of God.
She wasn’t sure if it was a good thing or not that they’d be seeing a lot of each other due to their majors—if they ended up having class together she felt certain that she’d feel a little self conscious about her music, if only for the fact that she knew him and he had never heard her play before.
Akii found the silence between them comfortable and liked the fact that he had quickly figured out that she wasn’t much for speaking…and he respected her dislike for nonstop conversation. Not many people were as understanding as he seemed to be and would either fill the void the silence created with pointless, idle chatter or…they’d feel uncomfortable from the quiet and just get up and leave. Kaito seemed to have found a balance between conversing and just enjoying the quiet, just like she had, it was nice to be in the presence of someone else who felt the same way she did about that sort of thing. Or, even if he didn’t share the same ideals he at least was mature enough to respect her decision…if that made sense. It made sense to Akii, in her head, but she feared that if she had ever, for some reason or another, voiced it outloud her words would have been jumbled and mixed up and just…difficult to decipher.
Gradually, as the quiet wore on, she strangely felt the urge to speak up a little more—not too much, but enough to give her a good idea of who exactly Kaito was. Her curiosity was piqued and she wanted to know a little more about him, but didn’t want to seem like a creep by suddenly bombarding him with questions about himself. It was none of her business and she didn’t want him to think that she was trying to pry into his life—they had only just met, after all.
“Yeah.” She lifted her head a little, the ghost of a smile gracing her lips, “I really do, I’ve found that animals will always be happy to see you, no matter what—and they don’t judge. [/color]” Akii liked having animals around, no matter whether she had had a good day or a bad one they’d always be around, happy to see her. She was saving up her money so that she could move out of the dorms and live off campus, that way she could also adopt a dog to fill that empty, lonely void that she felt in her heart where she supposed her family should’ve been—only…there was no room in her heart for her mother and father, just emptiness. While she was used to this feeling it didn’t mean that she liked it, maybe having something around that relied on her and was always happy to see and be around her could change that. Realizing that she’d gone off on a mental tangent, she shook her head a little to clear away the thoughts, “ What about you? Have any pets back home?[/color]” [/blockquote][/color][/size]

[atrb=style, background: url(http://i55.tinypic.com/11jrgx5.jpg), bTable][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,375px,true] WE WALK TOGETHER ONE AS ONE, A NEW EXISTENCE HAS BEGUN; I FOLLOW YOU, YOU FOLLOW ME THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE TO SEE | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 25px] If someone could jump into his head and sift through his thoughts, they'd find that he was a bit surprised at himself. And if they could sort through his memories, they'd know why that was. It was too bad no one could do that. It meant that no one would ever know. Except for maybe his brother, but that was only if he told his twin about it. And, chances are, he wasn't going to do that. Why? Because his brother would probably laugh and/or make fun of him as well as go out of his way to find out who the person was that his younger brother had been talking to. And he certainly didn't plan to tell his brother about Akii.
But why was he a bit surprised at himself? Well, because he was finding this silence comfortably rather than not. It may have been mentioned before, but he wasn't usually one to sit (or stand, in this case) in silence. He'd normally break it by asking a question or simply saying something. Or he'd just leave. Not this time though. He felt no obligation to keep a conversation going and he wasn't tempted in the slightest to leave.
Even as the silence continued on, he felt no urge to say anything. Anyone that had known him would think he was sick or something, probably. Especially if they also knew Hiro and got the two of them mixed up. Even more so if they didn't know him at all and thought he was his brother. It just went to show that most people didn't know him very well. After all, he wasn't so selfish as to continue asking questions when the person he was talking two didn't much enjoy talking. It just happened that he didn't run in to those types of people as often as people who were very talkative and upbeat.
"Yeah." Having never had a pet, himself, he couldn't know just how true her words were. He had seen television shows and movies, anime and manga. There were animals in many of the things he watched and read, even in some of the games he'd played. And in those things, the pets always seemed happy when their master came home and never seemed to care who or what they were. It made him wonder what having a dog would be like but he couldn't have one in the dorm. He couldn't have a cat either. All he'd be allowed to have would be fish and they didn't really appeal to him as a possible pet. Shaking his head to free up his thoughts, he smiled softly over at Akii. "Nah, no pets waiting for me there. My parents were never the type to have pets."
Maybe he'd get to move off campus next year or something. Then he'd get a dog for sure.

She leaned back against the tree trunk that she was sitting against, finding that the setting sun was beginning to cause a major glare, shining directly in her line of vision and making her eyes ache a little from the sheer brightness. Wow, it really didn’t seem like it but they had been out there for quite a while—maybe it didn’t feel like it because his company was enjoyable and not at all awkward or uncomfortable. Akii shielded her eyes with her hand, glancing up at Kaito. Did he not feel uncomfortable still standing there? Or maybe by him having not sat down beside her that meant that he didn’t plan on staying there very long? I need to stop looking too far into things… the silverette mused to herself, shaking her head a little.
A cool breeze picked up, blowing past them and ruffling through her hair, sending a shower of leaves from the tree they were beneath to float down around them. That pre-storm scent enveloped her, making Akii feel as if the sky were about to open up and release a downpour on them at any minute. How strange, the sky had been so clear looking earlier…
A sudden thought struck her. Akii began to shove her paints into her bag, just so that if it were to start raining then she wouldn’t have to scramble to pick everything up—only problem? She didn’t know what to do with her painting; it was still drying so she definitely couldn’t stick it in her bag. Though, she supposed, that if she had to she could use her body as a shield to protect the paint from running. The only worry she had was directed towards her painting, she really didn’t care if she got soaked—personally she loved storms and being out in them. She just wished that she’d been a little more careful, maybe if she had watched the weather channel that morning she wouldn’t have risked painting for far away from her dorm…ohwell, nothing she could do about it now.
”Nah, no pets waiting for me there. My parents were never the type to have pets."
The sudden sound of his voice brought her out of her musings, shifting her bag to the side of her after having finished cleaning up the area around her. Her golden gaze fell on him once again, “That’s too bad, but I guess not everyone’s into having pets.” A small, wistful smile tugged at the corners of her lips, “I plan on moving off campus sometime soon—maybe next semester—and when I do I plan on getting something to keep me company. Maybe a dog or a cat? [/color]” She couldn’t decide between the two, maybe to sate her indecisiveness she’d end up getting both animals… She’d been saving up, and she almost had enough to afford her own place, she loved the independent feeling she got from being able buy her own things and live on her own without having any help from her parents or anyone else. It was such an amazing feeling. [/blockquote][/color][/size]
